Labor

You and Angela were well on your way in your pregnancy you were just about to hit 38 weeks and you weren't on maternity leave as you were a surgeon and didn't want to leave your patients to someone else so you didn't go on maternity leave.

As your day was going along with your day  before you went to your next surgery you felt this mind numbing pain you felt but convinced yourself it was just Braxton Hicks before you went into surgery while scrubbing in you realized that you didn't feel it again and just believed it was nothing you were about 4 hours into your surgery feeling the pains come and go before you felt the pain again and you couldn't bear it anymore.

"Nurse Walters can you please page a different peds surgeon to take my place" you asked in the nicest tone you possibly could trying to stay calm "yes I can" she said before calling the nurses desk and got in contact with the other pediatric surgeon named Dr Marsh " Dr Marsh asked why there is a need to switch "tell him im in labor"

2 minutes later Dr. Marsh was scrubbed in and a wheelchair was waiting for you outside with one of the nurses asking "would you like me to call your wife Dr. Lopez" "huhhhh not yet wait until I'm at least 6 cm I don't want to bother her "thanks for asking though" you said wanting her to get as much time at het job before she has to leave for so long

"Okay let me check where you are" the nurse said before checking what centimeter you were at and then saying " okay so right now you are at 3 cm so you've got some time before you have to push I'll be back as soon as possible to check on your vitals and what centimeter mark you are at"

5 hours later you were at 6 centimeters.so you asked a nurse to call your wife knowing she might be frustrated about you saying not to call her immediately finally she got here feeling angry and upset before she saw you in the hospital bed crying in pain all of her anger disappeared before she came over to you and rubbed your back as you were crying through the pain once the contraction ended you looked up and said "I'm so sorry I didn't call you I really needed you I don't think I can do this" "oh sweetheart you could do this with or without me you've got this"

Another contraction came as you breathed thought is Angela said "it's okay baby you've got this just breathe"

The nurse came in to tell you that you were now at 9 centimeters you and Angela sat and walked and did squats and bounced on a yoga ball until one of the nurses told you that you were at ten centimeters and at your next contraction that it was time to push

Feeling your next contraction coming "I can't do this ang" you said tears streaming down your face "oh baby you've got it I'm right here" you nodded before you started pushing you pushed for about an hour and a half before you heard the cries of your baby watching the doctor and nurses take him away as you cried

"Ang where are they taking him where are they taking our baby" you asked while sobbing your hormones were all over the place you knew you would get you baby back in less than a minute but you couldn't stop crying "shhh it's okay baby they are just washing him off and cutting the umbilical cord you'll see him soon okay" she kisses your head and stayed with you to comfort you and as promised you saw your baby

You were wet and sticky from your sweat everywhere and more exhausted than you could ever be but it didn't matter because you had just had your baby boy "hi there Jack I'm your mama and this is your other mom we already love you more than you could possibly imagine" you said you turned to see tears going down angelas face as she looked at Jack"

You handed Jack to Angela resting your head on the pillow looking at the 2 loves of your life feeling your eyes start to drop before you fell asleep feeling content.
