"Matthew!"

The car swerved on the road.

I took a glimpse of his wounded shoulder then to the rearview mirror. There are two black cars tailing us. Both have been firing nonstop with silencer guns.

"The road to Manaya is tricky. We have a high chance of losing them there," he said in a bit strained voice.

"Right, let's switch seats."

"No! I know the road better than you. Just go back there, it's dangerous!"

"Fuck that, you're wounded! Gusto mo bang madisgrasya tayo? Just tell me the way."

I caught a glimpse of his darkened face. "Fuck this!" Then, he gripped both of my waist and lifted. The next thing I know, I'm already on top of him, with my back against him.

"M-Matt!" I screamed in shock.

"Just drive," he firmly said, even wrapping his arms on my waist. I bit my lip and tried to concentrate as much as I can. But with our skins touching, his warmth and breath next to me, it's so hard to focus with what's really going on.

Another batch of bullets came to us. His sideview mirror is damaged. The back seat window, too.

"Fuck," Matthew smirked and burrowed his face on my neck. His breath tickled me. "Can't believe this is happening right now."

"Yeah...me neither."

I bet we have different things in mind.

"Turn left there."

I did as he said. We were already entering the mountainous part of the island. I turned every time he says and now I forgot where we are supposed to be heading. Those tailing us are slowing down at last. It won't be long before we steer clear of them.

"These men, sino sila?"

"I don't know."

"Damn," he muttered another curse. "You're bad girl, weren't you? With them chasing you like this."

"You tell me."

He tightened his hold on my waist. I felt the sticky fluid from him. "Unfortunately, I don't know either."

Napalunok ako. ''You're still bleeding."

"I'm not."

"Yes, you are."

"This is nothing."

I clenched my fist around the steering wheel. Suddenly, I want to turn around and smash this car towards those bastards. How dare they cause harm to Matthew! This is the first time in a while that I saw someone who could help me recover my past. And now they're trying to ruin everything!

"You have a gun?" I blurted out.

"Not right now."

"That's good." I might want to repay those men with all the bullets they've wasted. And we all might not like it.

We continued to speed through the highway. There's nobody but us.

"We can lose them now. There is an intersection ahead. You should go left."

He was right. There were two ways. The right one is going down. One is going up and the road is unpaved.

"Now turn the lights off."
