Hi! this book is where im going to put my random ideas and publish them for all of you to see. What ifs,oneshots and other stuff is probably what you sre gonna see in this book.
I have this idea that's been on my mind for a while.
I wanna try creating a short fic series based on the Odyssey, but with Kiyotaka taking the place of the main character Odysseus.
For those that don't know what this book is, to sum it up the story takes place after the Trojan War between Troy and the Greeks, and it focuses on Odysseus, our main character who's only goal is to return to his wife and son, and kingdom. What should be a few week's journey stretched to ( iirc ) a 20 year long return due to the many obstacles that Odysseus and his crew had to face. The sea of monsters, his crew's mistakes, and even angering or provoking some of the Gods. So that's a LOT of shit. 10 years for the trojan war, and another 10 years to return home.
Notably, Odysseus is portrayed as a very smart leader, and is also a hero under the guidance of Athena the goddess of wisdom and military. So I can already visualize some scenes playing out if Kiyotaka took the place of the main character. And since this idea would only be based on the Odyssey; borrowing its general elements and plot and whatnot. I'll be sure to write different choices for Kiyotaka to do than what Odysseus had to choose, and so potentially some major conflicts in the Odyssey might be prevented-- BUT! It also means new conflicts will take place in its stead. Conflicts that aren't part of the original story.
This idea gets major inspiration from my time catching up with the Epic Musical community, a musical that's based on the Odyssey but not completely accurate to the books due to creative liberties being taken. But I like it though. It's a good narrative change, though some others will disagree, which I respect too. So with that said, elements strictly from the musical itself will also be borrowed for this idea. Dont worry, there won't be actual singing in the fic, it's too much work for me lol.
I'll likely be cooking this up tomorrow or today, it won't be uploaded here but it will have its own fic. Once again, my heart is set on something else so my focus might shift to this completely for the time being. It won't upload frequently since I need to binge on the Odyssey book itself since im only like halfway there, and also I wanna incorporate different greek myths into the story as reference so I'll be studying that too. Overall this fic might be a poor attempt, so for anyone that's from the country of Greece, I apologize in advance if what I might write isn't completely accurate. I'll take full blame, whether accidental or intentional. But I'm hoping you'll still like the story I'm going to re-tell from a different perspective.
I'm planning for the crew to be comprised of ANHS students, the mob crew members will likely be a mix of Class D - A, but the notable crew members will be the class leaders. Like for example, the first mate is Ryuuen ( this isn't final btw ) and stuff like that. Perhaps WR students could be part of the crew too but again nothing is final. I still need to read into the original story a bit more before I try my hand at this.
Ah, but I do have one thing I may need your suggestions for.
The wife of Odysseus is named Penelope, but of course, a different girl will take her place and become the wife of Kiyotaka, and by extension the Queen of Ithaca ( the kingdom's original name )
Before you start dropping your suggestions, I'd like to describe Penelope's character just a tiny bit without too many spoilers. She's someone who's regarded as a passive, loyal, and patient wife. She's skilled at using the Loom. And obviously she is known to be a beautiful and sought-after woman at the time. But that's not all.
She is arguably just as smart as Odysseus in the story, because in tradition, when a greek king takes too long to come back home-- suitors would try and take his place. By wooing the Queen and gaining power. And for a number of years, Penelope successfully did everything she could to stall them until her husband came home, even when at times she faced doubt if her husband was still alive after the war had ended she held onto faith.
So, now that you get the gist of what her character is like. Which cote girl should it be? I'll be honest the first girl I had in mind was Suzune for obvious reasons. But I'm willing to try writing a new heroine this time since it's been a while. If there are no other suggestions then by default I will go with Suzune. Or if the girl you guys have in mind isn't someone I'm too good at writing in ( ofc Im still going to try ) then I'd like a different one instead.
So...yeah that's about it. Well, it would be nice if you guys read a more accurate summary of the Odyssey or check out the Epic Musical soundtrack so you get the basic backdrop of this fic idea easier. And perhaps help me as I write since this is not something im not experienced in particular.
