I slowly weave my way through the crowd of people, trying not to bump into them. I never realized there would be this many students going here.
Booths are set up along the Main Street that rolls around the entire campus, the Corner is what they call it. I find myself judging that name harshly, considering that there is no corner for a couple of blocks.
It's just a straight block of road that seems to go on forever. Mopeds and bicycles roam around the streets, ringing their bells and horns at people for them to get out of their way.
Probably the early birds, the ones that came earlier and got all their supplies and just want to leave.
Smells hit my nose like a brick wall, making me think I must have passed some food stands. Colorful banners line the buildings that stack on top of Main Street, saying welcome students!
I pull out my phone, sending a quick text to Natalie.
She responds almost instantly, making me wonder where she is.
"Look behind you, idiot."
I turn around, shocked at how quickly Natalie found me.
"Nat! Can you believe this crowd?" I ask her, my own eyes widening. She shakes her head at me, her own eyes as wide as saucers.
"Oh my god, I know right! It's absolutely insane!" She nods her head, her red hair swishing everywhere.
"Well, where should we go first?" I ask, feeling giddy and excited.
Natalie makes a face, her lips puckered and her nose scrunched up.
"What is it?" I ask, raising my eyebrows at her.
"I didn't realize how busy it was going to be, I figured we'd be in and out." She complains, shaking her head. I laugh, amused by my best friend as she continues to complain about the crowds of people.
That's when something catches my eye.
Or perhaps a certain someone.
"Shit!" I duck down behind Natalie, attempting to hide my face. Hopefully, he won't see me and will just keep moving along. Because if he does see me he'll go on a rant again about how I should have been the one to leave.
There he is, standing at one the boothes, wearing a pale blue dress shirt and a tie, his sleeves are buttoned up to his elbows, probably to show off his amazing arms. I do have to say, he does look pretty good in that shirt. It defines his muscles so clearly it's almost painful to look at. Suddenly I'm pulled out of my drooling fest when Natalie snaps her fingers in front of my face.
"What the hell are you doing?" Natalie asks me, her annoyance fading and her skepticism taking over.
"I'm hiding!" I hiss, trying to keep my sights on that arrogant asshole.
"Okay then, why are you hiding?" She responds, rolling her eyes. Suddenly, she sees Nick.
"Daaaaayyum." She swoons. She starts to walk slowly over to the stall he's at, her short legs making long purposeful steps.
"No! Natalie! Stop!" I tug at her arm, but it's like she's possessed, she just keeps going. Eventually she's made all the way up to the booth, flashing her most seductive grin at him.
I, however, am hiding behind a tree that's right next to the booth. Yes, I know I am very mature.
"Hi." She says to Nick, completely unaware that I am not behind her. He looks up at her, his eyes taking her in. His face is bored and placid, almost as if he hated being here. Probably, considering that there were so many girls here who probably were attempting to the same thing as Natalie was.
