I debate whether or not it would be a good idea to go over and talk to Nick. I can hear Natalie and Heather squealing off in the distance, obviously having a great time. I shake my head, why would Nick even want to talk to me? He clearly looks distraught, what good would it do if I showed up and just caused more trouble to take place in his life.
I start to walk away, my head cast down at the floor, avoiding eye contact with Nick as I head towards the bathroom. As I'm continually looking down, I accidentally bump into a broad-shouldered man.
"Oh, gosh I'm sorry," I say, looking up the tall man. He gives me a toothy smile, his hair is slicked back with grease and his eyes are almost an emerald green. I instantly get the creeps from him. He almost reminds me of a serpent, sly and dangerous.
"It's alright, but if you wanted to talk to me all you had to do was stop by for a chat." He says, winking at me.
"Eh, no sorry, I was just on my way to the bathroom actually," I say, pointing in the direction of the bathroom. I try to sidestep out of his way, but he takes another step with me and blocks my path.
"Oh come on, we both know that's not true. Why don't you have a drink with me?" He says, mischievously. He grabs a hold of my arm and against my will, pulls me over to the bar. As much as I try to reject him and pull my arm out of his grasp, his tight grip is impossible to escape from.
"Seriously, stop. I said no. I don't want anything." I say forcefully, finally snatching my arm out of his hand.
"Hey, hey. Let's not be too rash here. I'm just offering you a drink." He gives me another wink, making my insides turn in disgust.
"I don't want anything from you." I cross my arms, turning on my heels to leave. That's when he grabs my waist and pulls me to his body. I feel my entire body burning with repulsive instincts and I gasp in surprise and disgust. I grab the nearest drink, the one he just had on him, and flick it back into his face. In the process, it lands all over my back, but it's worth it as he lets go of me and stumbles away, wiping the alcohol from his face.
"What the fuck? You dumb bitch!" He sneers, shaking out his shirt, as it is soaked.
"I said I didn't want anything," I reply, gritting my teeth.
"You fucking-" he starts to reach for me again when someone from behind me starts to speak.
"Is there a problem here?"
The man looks over my shoulder, swallowing hard and clenching his fists.
"No. Not at all."
"Then why are you still here?" The voice is deep, familiar. I grimace as I turn around and find Nick standing behind me, arms crossed. His fierce blue eyes are glowing with an intimidating gaze directed at the man across from me.
"I was just leaving." The man snarls, running a hand through his greasy hair before turning around and stalking off back where he came from.
I try to walk away before Nick can say anything else, but he grabs my wrist and flips me around, my head spinning.
"What the hell were you doing with him? Couldn't you tell he was bad news?" Nick scolds, his piercing gaze now fixated on me.
"Did you seriously not see me spill his drink on him? You really think I'm that stupid and naive to trust a guy like that?" I scoff, rolling my eyes and meeting his gaze with my own.
"Huh, did you ever think that might provoke someone like that?" He asks, leaning towards me.
"Whatever. I could've handled it myself."
