"Who are you?!" We both yell at the same time. His blue eyes are piercing into what seems my very soul! I think I may faint!

"I live here!" He recovers first, his hands gesturing towards the room with the sheets.

"What?! I thought this was room 5B?!" I said gesturing at the door, he looks at me as if I'm crazy.

"Of course this is 5B, but I'm supposed to be rooming with a guy named Mel." His blues eyes sweep over my face, his gaze lingering on my hair, probably because I had just stepped out of the shower. Speaking of which! I'm only wearing a towel! I feel my face flush and I clutch at the towel wrapped around myself.

"I'm Mel... well my names Melanie, but I probably should have written Melanie on it," I say, my mouth forming an O.

"You think?" He snorts. He must think I'm stupid. Actually, I do too, why didn't I put my whole name? I think I was feeling lazy that day. Wow, that must say a lot that I won't even write out my whole name.

"Look I'm sorry, I'll just find a new place tomorrow," I say, still clutching the towel at my chest. He smirks, his blue eyes lighting up with mischief.

"It'd probably be best." He takes a step closer, his breath tickling my face.

"And besides," He says, taking a wet strand of hair in his slim fingers. "I don't share rooms with girls like you."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I say defensively pushing his hand away and scowling.

"Absolutely nothing, but until you can find a new place, stay out of my way." He says, his face contorting into a sneer.

"Not a problem." I stomp away, down the hall and into my room for the night.

"Rise and shine!" I'm flung from the bed and tossed onto the floor, landing on my butt with a thud.

"Ow!!" I yelp out clawing at him as he tries to haul myself to my feet.

"Get out of my house, woman!" He says shoving me out of my room. I plant my feet and cross my arms as he tries to push me even more.

"I haven't even had a chance to look for new houses!" I grumble as he suddenly swings me up into his arms.

"Ah!" I scream as I kick my legs out, trying to free myself.

"Shut up, people will think I'm murdering you." He says, smirking and throws me into the couch.

"That's not funny!" I stare at him in anger. How can he be so rude and offending? People get murdered and he's making a joke out of it?! Ugh. He makes me want to rip his head off.

"So... Miss Melanie. Move your ass out of this house before I do it for you." He says, suddenly taking a coffee cup out of nowhere and sipping on it. What I wouldn't give for coffee right now.

"Ok look, Mr. "Tough guy", I don't take orders from you, and I am legally able to live here. So why don't you move your ass out of this apartment?" I reply, raising my eyebrows in testimony.

His own eyebrows shoot up in surprise, clearly not expecting me to talk back to him this way. Well, I have news for him, two can play this game.

"If you think I'm moving, you must be crazy." He challenges me with a smirk.

"Well, I'm not leaving either." I retort stubbornly crossing my arms. The nerve of this guy is really frustrating me, if he wasn't so damn hot, I wouldn't have to worry about living under the same roof as him.

"Oh yes, you are." His blue eyes sweep over my own, and I feel an icy cold shiver run down my spine. His eyes are seriously like cubes of ice, cold and intense.

"What makes you think you can tell me what to do?" I smirk, feeling powerful and in charge.

"You'll see eventually. I'm giving you one month to get out. And that's it. If you want to test me, you'll be sorry." He walks away from the couch, his back to mine. I can hear him sipping on his coffee.

"Wait a second..." I say out loud, suddenly thinking of something.

"What now?" He groans in annoyance.

"Isn't your name supposed to be Nicki?" I can't help but laugh. I just remembered who was supposed to be my assigned roommate.

"Shut up! My parents were expecting a girl!" He yells loudly, only making me double over in more laughter.

"So Nicki... You expect me to be out of here in a month, maybe you should check the name on the list." I manage to get out in between laughs.

He grimaced at his full name, and it only brought me pleasure. The fact that he thinks he can boss me around is hilarious. There is no way in hell that I'm leaving this apartment because of a guy named Nicki.

"My name is Nick. Nick Baxter. Not Nicki. That's just what it says on my birth certificate." He says, flinging a pillow at me. I smile at him, unable to hold it in.

He really is ridiculous. He may be hot, but his name is so not.

"Anyways, Nicki. I'm going to go downtown to visit the campus. I'll be back around lunch." I say, standing up from the couch. I honestly don't know why I told him where I was going, it's not like he would care anyway.

To me, it seems like I could get hit by a bus and he wouldn't care.

"Really? You're a college student?" He asks, surprised.

"Um yeah, freshman year," I reply dryly.

"Hmm. Maybe I'll see you there then, I work on the campus." He snorts as if it's so funny that I actually got into college.

"Yeah, haha. Who knows? Maybe I'll even buy you a drink."

"Tsk, tsk." He playfully scolds, wagging his finger as I continue towards my door.

"What?" I can't help but let my curiosity get the better of me.

"Underage people don't buy drinks for people like me."

"I was only kidding, jackass," I yell at him as I roll my eyes. I hear him laugh as I slam the door behind me, feeling exhausted at our little encounter.

I go towards my closet, picking through my clothes that I had only hung last night.

While I'm going through my clothes, the only thing that goes through my mind is "a new start".
