In the next few days, Sand didn't harass Ray as frequently because his case had entered a critical period and he was close to being detained at the law firm by Ren Tawanin.

He didn't have any complaints about this. It was his work after all. But looking at Ren who was calmly drinking tea in front of him, his eyes were cold, like small daggers shooting out.

Neither swords nor spears could pierce Ren and he commented emotionlessly, "You used to work so hard, almost living alone in the law firm. You could attend court without sleeping for two days straight, but how come since you joined me, you keep slacking?"

Sand replied lightly, "Do you think I'm single like you? I didn't have a family abroad so it was okay to put up a little fight. Now that I'm back home, I just want to accompany Ray and walk Chico."

Ren couldn't take it anymore.

"How old are you already? You look like your wife and child are on the stove," he shook his head speechlessly. "Young man, can you be a little bit more ambitious? Don't you want to become rich and handsome in Ray's eyes?"

Sand glanced at him and chose not to use the property in his name to provoke him.

He continued to work for a while before he remembered something and the corner of his lips raised. "Speaking of my family, Ray doesn't care about this. When he looked at me back then, he said he would run away with me even if I was penniless."

Ren: "..."

Recalling his more than twenty failed blind dates, he was extremely irked.

He threatened, "If you show off again, your salary will be deducted."

Sand simply ignored him.

Ren was quiet for a while and then started gossiping again, peering curiously, "Have you already caught up with Ray? You're moving quite fast, huh?"

In Ray's and Sand's entangled relationship, he was also considered half a spectator. Although he knew a little about the inside story, he also knew that Sand had a long way to go to chase his wife, but looking at Sand's complacent appearance, he wondered if he had succeeded.

The tip of Sand's pen paused. He remembered that he hadn't seen Ray for a few days and his Chat messages had sunk into the sea like a stone. It was obvious that Ray didn't want to talk to him and his mood soured a bit.

"Not yet, still chasing." He replied indifferently.

Ren felt at ease hearing his response.

"I'm telling you," he sipped his tea comfortably. "There's no such thing as cheapness."

What's the deal with having a partner? Even while single, he received the same treatment.

Sand looked at him coldly again and jerked his chin. "The door's over there. You can roll if you have nothing to do."

By the time Sand left the law firm, it was already past eleven o'clock. Outside, the moon was bright and the stars very faint. He didn't know if Ray was asleep, so he tentatively sent a Chat message to ask.

Ray replied ten minutes later with only two words.

"Sleeping already."
