TW: eating disorder
recovery is about taking control back. you might feel like you're in control because you decide what you consume. counting every calorie, purging after almost every meal, living off gum and water to still your hunger isn't you being in control. it's the illness controlling you.
recovery is about taking your life back. regaining strength, becoming healthy. you're putting your health at risk to meet your high expectations, is it supposed to be like that? are you supposed to almost pass out after standing up?
people say you look happy, just because you got skinny. but the old you is still you and maybe the real you, and i think she's pretty. what would you say to her right now? would you want her to count every calorie she consumes? would you want her to make herself sick after every meal?
give recovery a chance. take your control back, take your happiness back. you don't have to run from this any longer. you can fight this illness.
recovery might feel like betrayal, even further loss of control. it will be tough, but you're stronger than that. i know it.
