Finnick stared at the clock on his bed side table. Hoping it would go backwards just this once.
Hoping it would grant him the mercy of a few more hours before being sent to his death.

It was to no avail. He had gotten 2 hours of sleep, the rest of his night was spent simply staring at the clock the entire time.

How could he sleep? He was up against people more trained than him.

There was no hope of his survival.

His alarm went off at 6:30 he was to be picked up at 7:30 for the games, than it was time to be off fighting for his life.

He heard a gentle knock at his door "Finnick? Are you awake?"

Finnick didn't want to answer, but he knew she would just keep asking

"Yes," he paused while exhaling "Yeah I'm awake"

He made his way out of his room where he was met with Mags face, her expression unreadable

"How about work breakfast?"

Finnick simple nodded

                                       ****

After breakfast Finnick was made ready and put onto a hovercraft that would take him to the arena where the games would take place.

He had hoped he would see odette before he left but never saw her or Mel, nevertheless Odette gave Finnick a reason to fight a little harder than he would've if she wasn't a small part his life

While on the hovercraft he was sat next to Violet who wouldn't even make eye contact with him, this was the first time in all the time they'd been training that she truly looked frightened.

After a bit of flying the hovercraft landed beneath the arena, they escorted Finnick to a room with a tube by the back wall, when he walked in he saw Odette and Mal waiting for him by the tube

"Finnick" Odette looked as if she had tears in her eyes, he realized then he never wanted to see her cry again, especially not over him.

Finnick solemnly smiled while walking towards them, once he got close enough to Mal she grasped him in a tight, reassuring hug that made him feel safe and loved.

"In all my years, you have been my favorite tribute, Finnick" Mal pulled away, still holding his shoulders, keeping him in place so she could look down at him "you fight. You fight with everything you have and down give up. I believe in you and I truly know you can win this. I'm rooting for you Finn" her smile had faded into something more serious, like she meant every word she was saying, and Finnick believed her.

Mal let him go and Odette took his hand into hers where she slipped something into his hand, before he could open his hand to see what it was she clasped his hand shut, leaning into his ear so the peacekeepers couldn't hear them "you're not allowed to take things into the arena but i thought you could use something to remember you have people to fight for" she smile and peeked his hand open slightly revealing a small fish hook, reminding him of his home for a second and then reminding him of Mags, Odette and Mal.

He smiled fondly at the tiny trinket and out his arms around Odette, "thank you" was all he could whisper before the intercom sounded "20 seconds" meaning Finnick needed to make his way to the tube.

He hesitantly walked into the small glass chamber, just before it started moving he heard Odette "you're a victor Finnick"

Finnick knew he had to win, not only to live but to see Odette again and show her he was truly,

A victor.

Short ahh chapter, sorry yall but there wasn't much to put in this one since I'm not actually writing Finnicks games, they will mostly be Odette chapters, and since she promised Finnick she wouldn't watch them (she kinda breaks that promise...only slightly) I don't have basically anything to say about his games lol only because to don't know enough about his games to write about them lol, anyways I'm gonna write some more chapters now!!! See you in the next one <3
