The sun rose higher, casting a warm glow over the group as they gathered to discuss their next steps. Tixo, Wei, and Xul exchanged knowing glances, each of them acutely aware of the unspoken tension between Onyx and Ren. The two had grown noticeably closer, but despite their heartfelt conversation, neither had taken the final step to openly admit their feelings.

As they settled around a makeshift table in the mortuary’s main room, Greyson spread out a map, pointing to strategic locations. “We need to plan our next move against Kardinall. He’s not going to wait for us to regroup.”

Sterling nodded, his owl Artemis perched on his shoulder. “We need to strike soon, but we also need to be at our best. That means no distractions.”

Tixo leaned back, his tail flicking thoughtfully. “Speaking of distractions,” he said with a sly grin, “we’ve got a bit of a situation within our ranks.”

Xul rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the smirk that tugged at his lips. “You’re talking about Onyx and Ren, aren’t you?”

Wei nodded enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling with mischief. He scribbled quickly on his notepad and held it up for the group to see: *They’re totally in love but won’t admit it.*

Greyson sighed, rubbing his temples. “We don’t have time for matchmaking. We need to focus.”

Tixo chuckled. “Come on, Greyson. It’s not just about matchmaking. They care about each other, and if they can be honest about their feelings, it might give them the strength they need for the fight ahead.”

Xul nodded in agreement. “Plus, the tension between them is a distraction. Better to clear the air now than to have it come up during a critical moment.”

Sterling looked thoughtful. “They’ve been through a lot. Maybe admitting their feelings will help them heal and move forward.”

Greyson sighed again but nodded. “Alright, fine. But how do we get them to confess without making things awkward?”

Tixo grinned, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Leave that to us.”

Later that day, Tixo, Wei, and Xul found Onyx sitting alone in the garden behind the mortuary, his thoughts clearly troubled. Ren was nearby, practicing his combat skills with a determined focus.

Tixo sauntered over to Onyx, plopping down beside him. “Hey, Onyx. Got a minute?”

Onyx looked up, surprised. “Uh, sure. What’s up?”

“We’ve been talking,” Xul said, joining them with Wei in tow. “And we think it’s time you were honest with Ren.”

Onyx’s eyes widened in panic. “What? I-I already talked to him. We’re good.”

Wei shook his head, holding up a new note: *Not just talk. Be honest about how you feel.*

Onyx’s face flushed, and he looked away. “I can’t… I don’t want to make things awkward.”

Tixo placed a reassuring hand on Onyx’s shoulder. “You won’t. Trust me, he feels the same way. He’s just as scared to say it.”
