The air crackled with tension as the group approached Kardinall's stronghold, shadows dancing ominously around them. Onyx felt Achelios’s power surging within, ready to be unleashed.
“Are we ready?” Greyson asked, the weight of their mission heavy in his voice.
“We don’t have a choice,” Xul replied, gripping his weapon. “This ends today.”
“Let’s stick to the plan,” Tixo said, glancing at Wei, who nodded resolutely.
“Onyx, stay focused,” Ren urged, determination clear in his eyes.
As they entered the grand hall, Kardinall awaited them, his dark wings folded menacingly behind him. His laughter echoed, chilling them to the bone. “Ah, my dear children! How delightful to see you again!”
Onyx stepped forward, heart pounding. “We’re here to end this!”
Kardinall sneered, revealing his fangs. “Bold words for one so lost.”
With a flick of his wrist, dark energy surged toward them, but Onyx felt Achelios stir. “Not today!” he shouted, channeling shadows to shield his friends. The impact shook the hall, but their resolve held strong.
“Keep him occupied!” Greyson commanded as he charged forward, weapon raised. Xul followed closely, unleashing blasts of energy that Kardinall deflected with ease.
“You think your magic can harm me?” Kardinall laughed, eyes gleaming with malice.
Onyx clenched his fists, feeling the darkness flow through him. “I won’t let you hurt anyone else!”
Channeling more energy, he unleashed a wave of darkness that struck Kardinall, forcing him back. But the vampire lord quickly recovered, launching another wave of shadows that knocked Onyx down.
“Onyx!” Ren cried, rushing to his side.
“I’m fine,” Onyx grunted, rising with determination. “We need to keep fighting!”
Wei gestured urgently, urging them to regroup. The group formed a protective circle around Onyx, their strength united.
“Together!” Tixo shouted, emboldening them all.
Kardinall, seething, launched himself into the air, wings unfurling with a thunderous crack. “Enough of this! I will feast on your despair!”
With a surge of dark energy, he dove toward them, but Onyx stood firm, channeling his bond with Achelios. “Not today!”
As they fought, Kardinall unleashed blasts that tore through the hall, but their combined strength held firm. Just then, a figure emerged from the shadows—Riggs, the tiefling necromancer, appeared with a sly grin.
“Need a hand?” Riggs taunted, raising his arms. Dark energy swirled around him as he summoned a legion of spectral warriors, their forms flickering with ghostly light.
“Riggs?!” Xul exclaimed, surprise evident in his voice.
“I’ve got your back,” Riggs replied, sending the spectral army charging at Kardinall.
