𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟖

The summer was coming to an end very quickly and it'll be time for her to go back to her home in North Carolina with her mother. Speaking of her mother, She came up here two days ago to spend time with her family before she takes her daughter back.

Anna Mae and her mother Ethel Lewis-Clark were at the Northland Mall in Southfield, MI doing a little back to school shopping. They stood in the children's clothing section looking at all of the pretty dresses and shoes. She held them up to her daughter trying to picture how she'd look with them on "Oh girl what am i thinking. You'll look beautiful in anything" She pinched her chubby cheek.

"Mommy stop" Anna Mae giggled looking up at her mother, she admired her mother. She was the only parent she could look up too since her father Edward left when Anna Mae was just six years old. Her father and mother decided to part ways for their own personal reasons, they still loved each other but some people just grow apart.

Her father didn't live in North Carolina and he worked nonstop so he didn't have much time to visit his daughter. But he sure did sent checks for Anna Mae so she could have an allowance since she was up to the age now.

Anna Mae didn't mind it but she did miss her father and was starting to forget what he looked like most of the time, she only could see the damage photos of him in storage at her home. "Mommy i like these dresses more"

She pointed at the pink, baby blue, white and red polkadots, & yellow dresses "Also these shoes" She picked up a pair of white snap on shoes and black loafers "My baby got taste okay girl" She laughed picking up the dresses. Anna Mae smiled to herself feeling proud, she followed behind her mom going to the counter to pay 

"I already bought you a new pocketbooks with socks and gloves. Also a new school bag" Her mother pulled out her credit. Anna Mae nodded then her eyes drifted off somewhere else, they landed on a pair of padded leather loafers. She walked up to them and stared at them "Michael would love these for his birthday tomorrow" She mumbled to herself and grabbed them

She went to the counter holding the shoes looking at her mother who grabbed the bag and turned around to face her daughter holding a pair of shoes "What are you doing? We already got you shoes child" She stared at her with confusion

"These are for a friend. His birthday is tomorrow and I want to get him something special" The lines on her were tugging nervously "A friend? his birthday? Okay"  She stepped off to the side to let her by
