Uday's POV

"Kya hua tha?" I asked her as I held her gaze. It wavered but not in guilt, her eyes showed she was hurt.

"Humein kuch nahi kehna." She replied in a weak voice and then walked past me.

I felt anger bubble inside me and I turned and yanked her towards me. Mridula looked up at me in shock rather than defiance. She didn't even try to fight my grip away and that worked as boiling water to extinguish my anger.

"Ghar chalte hai." I told her with a calm tone. She stayed silent for a moment and then nodded.

I led the way out of the room and rather than taking the front entrance, we used the back entrance.

I messaged Gaurav to handle the guests as we reached the car.

Once inside the car, Mridula perched herself to the corner of the seat as she wanted as much distance as possible.

"Mridula..." She turned her head to look at me.

"I meant what I said. Trust me." I told with sincerity.

She didn't reply back and just looked out of the window. I would do anything to just read her mind at this moment.

My phone pinged with a message and I opened it to see a message from Gaurav and as I was replying to him, I got a call from Baba Sa.

I think he is worried about why we left in the middle. I cut the call, something that I don't usually do.

I looked back at her to find her unbothered about whatever was happening around her.

The ride home felt excruciatingly long for the silence that filled around us.

As the car stopped, I waited for her to get down but she made no effort. She only stepped out after I asked her to.

She dragged herself upstairs while I stayed back. I think she needs time alone but she would have to tell me what happened.

The next day when I got back home, I saw her sitting on the bed while she leaned against the headboard.

I was out since morning, correcting my mistakes.

I sat next to her. She looked tired but a lot better than last night. That's what I like about her, her fighting spirit.

"So..." She looked at me and criss crossed her legs.

"I ended that deal with the Sehgals."

"Why?" She asked. Surprise reflected in her beautiful eyes.

"Because I don't want anyone around me who disrespects my wife." I replied as I held her hand. My hold was gentle but I hoped I projected my intentions clearly, my intention that I trust her completely.

She still stayed quiet and I sighed before getting up to leave. I turned around and was about to take a step away from her when she held my hand.

"You took that decision even without knowing if I was at fault or not." She said as I turned to face her.

"I know you a little better now to believe that I made the right decision."

She sighed and ran a hand over her face. "Advik wasn't always like this. He..."

She looked up to check if I was okay to hear her speak of him. In the other situations, I would have felt enraged but this time, I want to listen.

"Go on."
