ZELLA

"He sent me here."

I flinch visibly and take a step back.

"What?"

"He sent me here, so do yourself a favour and save your self respect. He doesn't want to see you, he knows how all this can take a toll on his reputation."

I frown. "I don't trust you, I need to talk to him."

"Zella!" She raises her voice. "He does not want to see you! He didn't even want to talk to you, that's why he sent me here. Why else would I come all the way to your house?"

I don't want to believe her. I really don't, but she has a point. Why would she come all the way here?

I feel my heart breaking. It's as if I can hear it shattering into a hundred pieces.

"Why would he do that?" I hear myself whispering.

Hey eyes soften, as if she's taking pity on me. "Because that's what he does. He dates for a while, and then leaves those girls. He didn't even have the decency to break up with you face to face."

I sit down on the couch. My head feels like it's spinning. I have so many questions in my mind.

"After everything. He wants to break up with me after all those things?" My voice cracks and it takes me a great effort to not let the tears fall and break down in front of her.

"He was never serious about you Zella. You should've known that." She purses her lips impatiently.

"He asked me to be his girlfriend," I say and her head snaps back to me.

"He did?" Her eyes narrow and a wave of confusion washes over me. I don't know if I should trust her.

She shakes her head as if shaking a thought. "That's not a new thing. Dating is nothing for him, he dates a lot of women. Has he ever talked to you about taking things forward or marriage?"

She gets her answer when I shake my head and stay silent.

"There you go. He wasn't serious about you, Zella. Forget him. Move on. You deserve better than this."

She's right, I don't deserve this. I deserve better. The right thing to do now is break things off, but how do I move on from this? How will I forget this and Liam's betrayal?

I sigh and plaster up a fake smile. "You won't have to worry about me and Liam's reputation now. You can leave."

She grins victoriously and nods. "I'm glad to hear that. I'll leave now."

I wait for her to leave and close the door before I sink down on the floor and let the first sob break free.

One hour later, when I'm not crying my heart out anymore, I decide to go to my parents house.

I want to tell my mom everything and pour my heart out to her. She's the person who will understand me and comfort me.
