After a bit more, Loona broke the kiss and rested her forehead against Maxine's.

"Maxine," she whispered, "I want you."

Blushing, Maxine nodded. "I-I want you too, Loona."

They shared one more kiss before walking to Maxine's bedroom, hand in hand.

The next morning.

Loona stirred awake.

In her arms, Maxine looked up at her and smiled. 

Loona smiled down at her. "How long have you been awake, gorgeous?"

Maxine blushed. "Not long... I was just... thinking."

"About what?"

"About last night. Last night was..." Maxine paused, which drove Loona crazy. "Last night was incredible."

Had Loona been in her hellhound form, her tail would have been wagging furiously. "Fuck yeah, it was."

Maxine leaned in and pressed a kiss to Loona's lips. When they separated, Maxine spoke. "So we've kissed. We've been on dates. We've had sex."

"All of which were pretty fantastic, I should add." Loona joked.

Maxine smiled. "So what does that make us?"

Loona cycled through all the words she knew from all the romance novels she had read. "Girlfriends?  Partners? Lovers? Soulmates?"

Loona paused a moment, blushing as she realized the intensity of the last word she said. "I'm sorry, that last one was-"

"That last one was my favorite," Maxine said, interrupting her. 

Loona leaned in again. "Mine, too." 

They kissed again, and for the first time in Loona's life, everything felt right.

When the two of them separated again, Loona noticed that Maxine had a much more serious expression on her face. 

"There's something I really need to tell you," Maxine said.

Loona's heartbeat began to speed up. "W-What is it?"

Maxine looked down and took Loona's hands in her own. She took a deep breath before speaking. 

"I'm engaged."

Loona's heart stopped.

"W-W-What???"

"Not by my choice!" Maxine quickly added. "Let me explain."

Loona breathed slowly, trying to calm herself down. This was taking a surprising turn.

"It's an... arranged marriage," Maxine began, "with some prick from a rich family. My parents say they're marrying me off to help 'business' between the two families. But that's bullshit. They're homophobic fucks who couldn't stand it when I came out to them."
