Chapter 7 - My Precious

A month has passed since then. Multiple attempts to harm Mei, both through verbal and physical action still happened till this day and although there are still people who protect Mei from such things, mainly Roland and the others, the hatred that lingers in the minds of the citizens still exist.

Although Mei tried to convince the others that she's okay with such things, the burden and trauma is slowly and surely building up.

And in the end, when all of it reaches its peak, the [REDACTED] will [REDACTED].

In my hand is a paper bag with the logo of HamHamPangPang written on it.

To say that I wasn't excited would be an understatement. After all, I now hold the secret sandwich that can only be ordered on Sunday for a period of 10 minutes at a precise time of 8:13 PM till 8:23 PM. Each HamHamPangPang branch serves a secret sandwich made out of unique ingredients that makes it different from the other place. Not only is the timeframe so short, they also only serve 3 of it. It's a miracle that I manage to snag it two times before.

And this one will be my third time.

As I excitedly walk back to my place, I take my usual route through the park. The park usually close at 9 PM, so it's a convenience route of mine.

As I walk through the dark road of the park, with only the illumination from the park lamps, I admire the night views of the city.

"DUG!" My shoes hit something, no someone. I look down, and there's a girl who's lying there.

"Oii, are you alive?"

There's no response. I lightly tap on her back, there's still no response.

"F-Food." She growls with a low voice. Hm? Did I hear it correctly?

"FOOD!" She suddenly jumps at me. Her saliva are dripping at a fast rate. I take a step back as I reflexively use both of my hands to protect my precious.

"W-What the!?" Suddenly, like a blitz of thunder, that girl appeared in front of me. Her eyes are like a predator staring at my paper bag with such ferocity that it feels like a hungry lion is in front of me.

Before I can even react, her hands have already grab my precious.

I tried pulling my bag away from her, but... 'This strength!? What kind of augmentation does she get to be this str-" Then, the sound of the bag tearing apart can be heard.

"MY PRECIOUS!!!" The sandwich is flying in the air. I look at the girl but she's nowhere to be found, I look at the sandwich again and it's gone. I look around me again and she's a few meters away from me, chomping on my sandwich.

"No." I fell down to my knees. What a cruel world it is. "Can't a man enjoy his own sandwich in silence?"

I look at her again as she's munching on the last bits of my (former) sandwich.

"Puahh, thank you for the food." She cheerfully said those words. She looks at me with bright eyes. "Thank you, I haven't eaten anything for a while. You're my savior!" Her face is filled with such bright smile.

"Hm? Hello, are you there?" She walks closer to me and waves her hand in front of my face. "Are you okay? You look kind of pale."

I look around again. It's real. What has happened to me is entirely real. I look at the girl and she's now staring at my face. Wait, now that I look at her, she looks quite similar with her.

I stand up using one of my knees as a support. As the light shines to the both of us, I must say, she's actually a beauty. She has a white porcelain skin, her white messy hair that is tied to two big braids, and bright sea blue eyes. She wears a white shirt and a short pants.
