After class , Tiffany and I were chatting by the lockers . As I was taking out my history textbook for my next class , Tiffany said her goodbyes and left for math class . Me and Tiffany barely had any classes together but that didn't matter since we were to see each other back at our dorm anyways , I wouldn't give Tiffany a reason to miss me since we would always try to spend all of our time together .

Once I gathered my needed books in my arms, I shut my locker and turned around only to find the last person I expected to see . Joseph Gong . Standing behind me with his arms folded in front of his chest , his black eyes cold and frosty as usual.

I was rather confused at the sight as we would usually try to avoid each other as much as possible, so his presence right now did not make any sense . I simply stared back at his cold black eyes, not uttering a single word as if to tell him that I was not intimidated by him in the slightest . Two could play this game .

Joseph was the first to speak ,"So.. first place today, huh ?" ohhh, so this was what he wanted to talk about . His ego probably couldn't stand the thought of losing today in a game as simple as kahoot, so he came to tease me, hoping to get a reaction out of me . But I was already immune to his schemes so being the better person I simply shrugged it off "yeah it was such an engaging game today , you didn't do so bad yourself" I said but my tone was dripping with sarcasm .

"Yeah, it was such an engaging game today. You didn't do so bad yourself."

He replicated it with an overly exaggerated British accent . I felt a vein popping out but kept my calm. I couldn't let him see how pissed off I was at him , how I desired to rip out those wavy black locks of his , to touch them , to see if they were really as soft as they looked .

I hate him

I acted as if I didn't hear his statement meant to mock me before slipping past him . "Excuse me , I must take my leave now , I have history next period," I remarked calmly , I won the battle today in English anyway, so I wasn't planning on picking a petty fight with him . But unfortunately he had other plans..."Me too , how about I walk you there , friend ." he smirked, showing me those straight pearly white teeth . It's a pity such perfect features are wasted on a spiteful person like him , if only God had given him a face that matched his cruel personality .

But I was well aware of the lingering gazes from others on us , analyzing our every move , getting ready to spread any rumours about us . Being the children of powerful people is truly exhausting at times . The expectation to always maintain a perfect facade , to never get angry , to never show your true nature in public . So I simply nodded, flashing him the most forced smile I could muster .

We walked side by side , making sure our body parts would never touch each other . Sometimes, I wonder what it would be like if we simply didn't hate each other if we were just friends . Although no matter how hard I try, I can not imagine a separate universe where we would not be hating each other to death . Our personality just could never match , we were never at peace . No matter how hard I try to act as if he wasn't so bad , he was that bad .

Was he speeding up ? My eyes widened in confusion. Before I could blink my eyes, he was a good distance ahead of me , hold on a second . Was he trying to make a competition out of walking ?

I scoffed . Typical Joseph. Needed to win at something , needed to outdo me in one thing every day . How irritating . I started to speed up as well , taking long strides forward, but when he saw that i had caught up on what he was doing , he walked even faster .

damn him and his long legs

Soon, I felt myself running instead of walking, and he did the same . We ran in the now empty hallway with most students either in class or still collecting their books from their lockers .
