Thirty Nine Sunrises

I left a donut and ice coffee in front of Matthew's door.

There wasn't much to say to him.

I just sipped the rest of my milk and thought to myself,

Would Matthew let me have a studio here?

I'd take consideration to please him for that.

The sunrise comes up.

I kind of just watch it.

That's until I hear a creak from the hallway.

Matthew is awake.

Footsteps are echoed to my room.

"Good morning Shawn. Thanks." He says before coming in and closing the door.

"You have a nicer view of the sunrise compared to me. Mind if I?.."

"Not a problem." I pat my bed for him to sit.

I criss cross my legs as my back is on the headboard.

He sits on the edge with his feet dangling.

My window is practically the whole wall.

His house is amazing but I do like my room more than his.

"Good morning. Want some milk?" I inch my arms to him.

"Ah, no. Ice coffee. Thanks."

I look at him, I see the sunrise dilate his pupils.

I even see the shades of sunshine from
yellow orange and pink flash off his eyes.

I like it.
