After a few days,
In Hospital (Night)

The night was quiet… but not peaceful.

A solemn silence hung over the hospital corridors, broken only by the soft hum of machines and the occasional chime of distant footsteps. In a dimly lit corner of the hospital, stood a small temple—untouched, serene, and glowing faintly in the dark.

A deep flame danced slowly in the brass lamp placed there, as though it too was praying with desperate hope. Its flickering glow fell gently on the tear-stained face of a girl kneeling in front of it.

She held a small bottle of oil in one trembling hand and poured it gently into the lamp. Her hands then folded tightly, and her lips quivered as she whispered her prayers. Her heart was visibly breaking.

She was dressed in a red Anarkali suit, but it seemed dull now, drenched in sorrow. Her eyes were swollen, her face pale—like someone who hadn’t slept for nights. She had been crying for hours… maybe more.

Yes, she was our Adhrika.

Beside her stood two more shadows of grief—Shridha and Ridhanvi.
Their shoulders trembled as they clung to each other, their cries echoing softly in the empty hallway.

They were crying a lot after looking at God.

"Please bhagwan ji hamari Adhya di ko thik kar dijiye......."

They kept chanting the same line, again and again, like a desperate mantra, as tears streamed endlessly from their eyes. Their voices cracked. Their bodies trembled.

Every word felt like a plea to the heavens.

Now let’s go back… to the moment that shattered them.

Flashback:

The moonlight kissed the road gently as Adhya and Adhrika walked together, their arms brushing now and then, their faces tired but peaceful after another day’s work.

"Chalo aaj ka cafe ka kaam to ho Gaya ab ghar chalein...."
Adhya said, glancing at her younger sister with a soft smile.

"Haanji dii chaliye,
Aur waise bhi aaj hum dono hi hai,"
Adhrika replied, slinging her bag over her shoulder.

"Haa, aaj Ridhu and Shree Nahi aayi naa…
Ridhu ki to internship chal rahi hai puri thak jaati hai wo...
And our Shridha is on duty till late night in the hospital."
Adhya’s voice held pride and care in equal measure.

"Haa dii, Now our sister's has grown older…
Now they are not small anymore."
Adhrika chuckled, a soft sparkle in her eyes.

Their laughter floated in the air like music, echoing through the sleepy streets.
Their bond—gentle, unbreakable—could be felt in the way they smiled without saying anything.

Suddenly, a small puppy waddled out from behind a parked scooter, its little tail wagging with joy.

Adhya’s eyes lit up immediately.
She bent down, giggling, and took out a few biscuits from her bag, feeding the tiny creature with affection.
