Author POV.
The soft moonlight spilled gently across the bedroom, casting a silver glow over Niharika and little Aruhi, both cocooned in their warm blankets. The quiet tick of the clock was the only sound, counting down the last moments of the day. Aruhi, with her short curly hair sticking out from under her blanket and her big, expressive light-brown eyes shining with excitement, sat upright on the bed, clutching her little hands together. She had been waiting for this moment with bated breath for hours.
"Mummaa...utiye...it's your Bday..." she whispered, her tiny voice filled with excitement and glee, bouncing slightly as she tried to contain her joy.
Niharika, who had been in a deep, peaceful sleep, slowly opened her eyes to see the glowing face of her daughter. A soft smile spread across her lips as she realized what was happening. "Awww my Baby...thank you so much, bachha..." she said in her sweet, melodious voice, pulling Aruhi close and showering her with kisses, her arms wrapping around the little bundle of joy.
Aruhi giggled, a sound so pure and musical that it seemed to make the entire room glow brighter. "Aley Mumma...it's your Bday naa," she said, her small hands patting Niharika's cheeks gently.
Niharika laughed softly, her eyes crinkling with joy. "Awww My My Bachha...aap mere liye jaag rahi ho...on my birthday?" She lifted Aruhi slightly, hugging her tightly and planting gentle kisses on her forehead, cheeks, and nose, eliciting a squeal of delight from the little girl.
"Ofcolt Mumma..." Aruhi said in her cute, playful voice, trying to mimic the grown-up pronunciation she had been learning, her little fingers grabbing at Niharika's hair as if to steady herself against the overwhelming joy.
Niharika chuckled, holding her daughter close, "Awww thank you, Mera bachha...ab so jaao...meri chhoti pari..." She smoothed Aruhi's hair, adjusted the blanket, and tucked her tiny feet under the covers, ensuring she was warm and cozy.
But Aruhi wasn't quite ready to sleep yet. Her big brown eyes sparkled as she tilted her head and whispered softly, "Mumma...Shunona..."
"Haa baby, bolo..." Niharika hummed in response, leaning back slightly to meet her daughter's eager gaze.
Aruhi sat up just a little, her small hands waving excitedly. "Kal hum thab miltar aapta biday thelibate kale..." she said, her words rushing out as if she had been rehearsing them all day. Her eyes glimmered with hope and excitement, the little voice barely above a whisper but filled with innocence and longing.
Niharika's eyes softened as she held her daughter close again. "You know naa baby...main kal celebrate nahi kar paungi...And anyway, Maa Durga is coming tomorrow...to mujhe kal bohot kaam hai...you know naa," she explained, gently stroking Aruhi's hair. She could see the tiniest frown forming on her daughter's forehead and the faint pout shaping her lips, signaling disappointment.
"Solly...baby...But we have to go to Durga Puja tomorrow...do you remember?" Niharika added, hoping to lift her daughter's spirits.
Aruhi's eyes brightened a little, and a small smile returned to her face. "Otay Mumma...But phil hum dhoomne bi daayenge," she said, her tiny hands mimicking excitement as she imagined the outing.
Niharika chuckled softly, planting a tender kiss on the crown of Aruhi's head. "Okay, Mera bachha...we will go tomorrow...now sleep peacefully..."
Aruhi snuggled closer, her little arms wrapping around her mother's neck, feeling the warmth and love radiating from her. "Mumma...meri baby bhi aapke saath rahegi," she whispered, half asleep, her voice soft and sleepy but full of contentment.
