It was 30 minutes to 5 o'clock in the evening, and I was already in my car driving through the suburbs to Kyle's apartment that was an hour drive away from my office in Manchester.

Normally I would still be at my bureau, going through 3D graphics or design models for my clients or organizing my very busy schedule for the week. That's what came with being the best interior designer for one of the greatest designing firm in the country.

But here I was, honking like a maniac at the car in front of mine or rather at the driver to move his truck forward in the traffic line, instead of doing whatsoever on his phone. I wanted to scream at how incompetent people were nowadays. The driver finally pushed his beat-up truck forward, not without gracefully flicking me the finger. Foul.

I had been on this highway for more than an hour and I had barely moved 100 meters forward. Fucking traffic. I tried calling Kyle's phone once more, but as the 33 times before, the call went straight to voicemail. As per usual I left a message after the beeping sound,

"Kyle, it's the 34th time I'm calling, and you still haven't called or texted back or given any fucking sign of fucking living. I don't know what the fuck is going on, but I'm going to your apartment right now, you better be there. Luv you" I hang up. I was really pissed and it showed. Mum will be disappointed if she heard me curse, but I was really worried.

I knew that sometimes he will forget to reach out to me when he was really busy, but he always made sure to call me when he got a free moment and update me on what he was doing and when we could talk again. That's how it worked. Only this time I had not heard from my boyfriend over 24 hours and to say I was worried was an understatement.

I had wanted to leave for his apartment the next day after the family reunion, but there was a lot of cleaning and washing to be done, and I felt guilty leaving all the work to mum and the others. Mum didn't want to hire a cleaning company, she feared that my dad's stuff will get lost or be stolen during the process. I knew she just didn't want strangers at our house.

Also earlier in the morning, I had to attained a very important meeting with the new intern designers on what was expected of them. I could have delegated this task to Jenna, seeing as we worked together and she was the head of the designing department, but as the head of the team, I always like doing this type of presentations myself. It helped me select in my mind the ones I will be working with further down the line.

I had however managed to leave the office an hour before closing hours. I didn't know how I pulled that up, seeing as people always wanted something from me - either to examine a design or sign deliveries of furniture for VIP clients. I sneaked out of the building, hopped into my Sedan and drove in the direction of Kyle's town.

Two hours into the traffic, I suddenly I heard the chiming of my phone ringing and sighed, because I knew it was not a call from Kyle. I answered the call nonetheless.

"Hello" I said sounding a little colder than meant to.

"Wow hello to you too sister of mine" Charlie said from the other end. She sounded a little surprised, clearly wondering what the heck was going on with me.

"Hi Cy. I'm sorry, I've got a long day and I'm a little tired. Still haven't recovered from the cleaning with had to do after family reunion last week" I said and immediately heard the honking of other cars, in the traffic line. I moved my car, a little forward.

"Oh you're not at the office?" she asked, then said before I could respond "You're usually still at the office at this time, unless there's an emergency. Is there a problem?" She sounded concerned and worried. Ugh, sometimes I hated that my family knew me that well.
