The weight of memory

Ranvir sat next to Sia. Sia was about to have the first bite of jalebi when Ranvir interrupted her, "Stop! What are you doing? " Sia just got scared. She said, "What? "
After having a look at Sia's face and then at Jalebi Ranvir sighed and said, "Seriously Sia. I have never seen such an unromantic girl like u. " Then he turned his face in the opposite direction.
Sia was not able to understand anything. She thought that she made a mistake and unintentionally hurt Ranvir. She held Ranvir's shoulder and said, "I am really Sorry Ranvir. I still don't know what wrong I did. But I am really very sorry if I hurt u. See this is my first date and I have never dated anyone. I don't know what people do in their dates. " Ranvir turned towards her and said, " Ooohhh first date. As if I have dated 1000 girlfriends. " Sia couldn't understand anything. Now she had tears in her eyes. She didn't want to hurt Ranvir in this special day. She said, "I am really Sorry Ranvir. I... " Before she could complete her sentence her voice choked and tear fell down her cheek.
Hearing this Ranvir suddenly turned to Sia. There were tears in her eyes. He was in shock that Sia is such a delicate girl. “Sia….” he said in shock. Then he pulled her in his arms. He said, “I am so sorry Baccha! I was just teasing you. I didn’t know that it could hurt you. I am extremely sorry.” Sia hid her face in his chest and said in a baby voice, “You are very bad Ranvir.”

Ranvir kissed her hair and said, “Dekh now I am sorry and if you say I would hold my ears too. And yes! You are not unromantic. You are the light of my life Love!” Ranvir said this and held her face in his palms . But Sia was still crying . Now Ranvir was getting tensed. He wiped her tears and caressed her head and said, “Bacchaa! I am sorry na… Just tell me what is bothering you. It can’t be just this prank. Just tell me.”
Sia freed her face from his hands and again wrapped herself in his arms and said, “It’s not like that Ranvir. I never want to hurt you. I lost each and every person I have ever loved in my life. Now I can’t bear the pain of losing you, not even in my imagination. When you said that you didn’t expect this from me and I am very unromantic then it felt like, you deserve someone
much better than me, who can love you as you do, as you show your love to me every single moment. It felt like I was not enough. I got scared Ranvir. I am so sorry.”
Sia was still sobbing . Ranvir got down and took a water bottle from the car. He made Sia drink it. Now she was feeling better. Ranvir regretted his actions. He wants to say a lot of things to her but he knew that now it was necessary for Sia to say everything that is in her heart otherwise it would hurt her a lot. So he again sat on the car’s bonnet. Sia rested her head in his shoulder. She said, “You know Ranvir, I was just 7 years old when Mumma passed away. I couldn’t tell you in words how suffocating that was. Dad couldn’t bear that pain of losing her so he made him busy in his work. He used to come home late. Sometimes drunk. A maid used to take care of me. But I never got any attachments to her. I didn’t know how suddenly I lost both of my parents. Then one day he fell in love and got married to a woman who never ever cared about me.
On my birthdays he used to send gifts through his servants but he never came himself. Those expensive gifts….! My friends always used to get jealous of me because of those expensive stuff and I got jealous of them because they had family. I never ever cared about those expensive gifts I just wanted his presence which I never got. He used to tell me that he would come to me if I stand first in class or if I do well in university examinations. And all of my life just spent on proving him that I am his worthy child. That I am able to be called as Raghav Rajvanshi’s daughter. But tell me Ranvir, is he worthy of being called my dad?”
Now even Ranvir was in tears. He was holding her hands since she started talking about her past. Both were sitting holding each other’s hands. After a silence of a few minutes Ranvir said, “That was your past Sia. I know that it was so painful and I can’t change it but I promise you that your future is going to be magical. I will remove every trace of your tears. I will give you such beautiful moments that you will never get time to think about all these negative thoughts. The loss of your mother was destiny, your father’s ignorance was his choice but I promise you that I will always be with you and I am not going anywhere.” After saying this he kissed her forehead and hugged her. Sia also wrapped herself in his arms like a small baby. They were lost in each other when Ranvir’s hand mistakenly hit the packet and jalebi fell on the floor. He screamed in a very squeaky voice, “Jalebiiiii……”. After hearing this Sia burst into laughter. She said, “Oh no! you ruined my dessert, now go and get some more.” Ranvir said, “Leave it I have a better option and that is sweeter than your jalebi.” Sia couldn’t understand this and asked, “Meaning?” Ranvir gave a smirk and moved closer to her lips. Sia widened her eyes and hit him on his shoulder and she said, “Ranvirrrrrr! You are so shameless. Let’s go to home now sky is getting dark.” Ranvir held Sia in his arms and made her sit in the car. Sia was looking at his face very lovingly then Ranvir asked, “What?” she nodded her head and said, “Nothing! Bas yu hi..!”
He shut the door of the car and opened the door of the backseat. Sia was confused. Ranvir got something from there and got back to his seat. He gave that packet to Sia. That was her favorite Belgian Chocolate ice cream. Ranvir said, “Jalebi nahi to ye sahi meri mithori ke liye….” There were again tears in her eyes. Now Sia was getting all the love and care that she missed in her childhood. She held Ranvir by his collar and placed her lips in his lips softly.

Ranvir’s eyes got closed. He caresses her hair. Sia’s one hand was holding Ranvir’s collar and the other hand was in his heart.  After a few seconds she separated herself from him and said, “Yes, you were right Ranvir. It is sweeter than jalebi.” Ranvir was blushing badly. He put his one hand behind his head in shyness. He was blushing so cutely that Sia giggled at his actions. He pulled his cheek and said, “Vir….. Why are you so cute?" Ranvir still was not over from their first kiss. He said smiling, “ I… I don’t know Sia..” and then started his car. Sia was looking at his face with a smile. She was thinking, “How innocent was his love in today’s life, when everyone just wants to use each other and this boy is not able to come out of the thoughts of their first kiss.” She rested her head in his shoulder and Ranvir turned on the radio of his car where a soothing romantic song was playing....
