Chapter 002

Y/N Kamado's P.O.V:

... Tanjiro still isn't back yet.. I'm starting to get worried. After voicing my thoughts to Nezuko, I did feel the slightest bit calmer than before , though. "He will be fine! I am concerned too though.. He's normally back at least 2 hours before this..! What if something bad did happen to him...?" She shook her head to clear it of all the negative thoughts and muttered to herself. I couldn't hear what she said, but it had the words "... Completely.... Fine..." in there.

Nezuko Kamado's P.O.V:

Y/N walked up to me after tucking in Shigeru and Hanako to bed. I'd just finished putting Rokuta to bed as well so she made sure to be quiet. She told me how worried Tanjiro's absence was making her and that someone might have to go looking for him.. I was worried as well, so it wasn't only her, but sending someone else out at this time of night was too risky in its own. That could result in 2 family members missing. 

Mum had already started sending out letters to the people of the village and was going to ask one of us to deliver it in the morning if he still hadn't shown up, but she fell asleep in the middle of writing the second one  due to stress.. It has had a massive impact on us three... we haven't told the younger ones yet so as to not scare them.

Y/N was still rambling on about how our onii-chan could be in danger, but it was giving me a headache.. it was 9:00 PM and usually I would have gone to sleep after an exhausting few hours of taking care of the youngest: Rokuta, so to shut her up, I replied. 

"He will be fine! I am concerned too though.. He's normally back at least 2 hours before this..! What if something bad did happen to him...?" I shook my head; I cannot be thinking about that when I have a whole family to be happy for..! "I am sure he will be completely fine... yeah..! Fine..!" I whispered to myself, making sure that my nee-san wouldn't hear it. 

I needed to be strong! If she thought that her younger sister was really strong then she would become strong as well! Hopefully..

Tanjiro Kamado's P.O.V:

Mr. Saburo had told me to stay at his for the night instead of going up the mountain because it was dangerous at this time of night. I didn't understand what he meant by that and tried to argue, telling him that my family were going to be worried sick about me. He didn't listen to a word I said, and, eventually convinced me to stay at his place for the night. Mr. Saburo was a family friend who would help my dad when he came to sell charcoal in the village

(A/N: I am making this up because I can't fully remember who Saburo was other than the one who told Tanjiro about the demons. Sorry.)

I asked him why it was too dangerous to go up the mountains at night. I'd get it if he just said 'alone'... but he said at night. There haven't been any sightings of wild animals near here at all, but he replied with something that I never  would have expected.. Demons...

"There are demons all over Japan! They only come out at night, then they will attack and kill you.. drinking your blood occasionally and eating your flesh..!" That horrified me.. man-eating monsters.. "Are they like vampires, where they need permission to enter the house.?" He shook his head gently; "They will just enter.. although they attack more if you are outside or somewhere with open doors..." 

I struggled to fall asleep after that chilling story..  it was nerve-wracking that such creatures were existing around humanity for so long..  Could my family be attacked by a demon while I am here in the safety of a wisteria coated house..? 

(A/N: I don't know if Saburo had Wisteria near his house but for plot convenience and to make our precious traumatized baby even more guilty, he does. <3 I love Tanjiro, tho!)

No, why would any demon feel the need to harm people who have done nothing to them? I'm just overthinking.. yes, overthinking.. I hope..

(A/N: To add more chapters and save me spending ages just to write, like, 2 paragraphs, I am splitting the first episode into a few chapters. It also helps me keep up with the whole 'writing a book that people are actually gonna see online and read'  thing, which is still new to me and I have put my MHA book on Hiatus so as to not stop posting chapters on this one since it only had 1 chapter before this one was published while the MHA one has about 8 chapters to read already..
