(36th day)
Winter's P.O.V
I rested comfortably in my room, the soft glow of the afternoon sunlight filtering through the windows. Minji had visited me earlier but had just left for lunch, leaving me to enjoy a moment of solitude.
My meal arrived on a wooden tray, and I settled it on my lap as I sat on the edge of my bed. Outside, Yi-Zhuo and Aeri stood guard at my door. Despite the awkwardness that lingered between us after the incident, we had managed to have a heartfelt conversation. I had forgiven them both and even shared more about my background.
Yi-Zhuo, with her ability to communicate with ghosts, confirmed the truth of my words, which seemed to bring a deeper understanding between us. She expressed her remorse, but I assured her that I held no grudges. Aeri, on the other hand, went above and beyond to seek forgiveness—so much so that she kneeled and slammed her head on the wooden floor in an exaggerated display of contrition.
It was a moment that blended seriousness with a touch of humor, and it marked a turning point in our relationship. Despite the rocky start, I felt a sense of relief and hope that we could move forward, united by our shared duty to protect and serve.
3rd person's P.O.V
Winter picked up the spoon, ready to eat her soup, when the door suddenly swung open with a loud bang. Startled, she jerked in surprise, causing a bit of the hot soup to spill onto her tongue. She hissed in pain, instinctively holding out her tongue to cool it off.
"Can you knock next time? Look what you did!" Winter exclaimed, her voice tinged with irritation and discomfort as she glared at Jimin.
Jimin froze in her tracks, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she stared at Winter."What?" Winter asked, her tongue still protruding slightly. "It burns, okay!? Now stop looking at me."
Realizing her gaze was fixated, Jimin quickly averted her eyes, a sheepish expression crossing her face. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," she mumbled apologetically. Unbeknownst to Winter, Jimin couldn't help but find her adorable with her tongue out like that. Despite the initial awkwardness of the interruption, Jimin's embarrassment melted into a soft smile as she watched Winter's expression shift from irritation to playful discomfort.
Winter sighed softly, the pain in her tongue subsiding as she set the soup aside. "It's fine," she said more gently, her frustration easing. "Just... next time, knock, please?"
Jimin nodded earnestly, her cheeks still tinted pink. "I will. Sorry again," she repeated, slightly flustered by the unexpected interruption.
With a small smile, Winter gestured for Jimin to come closer. "Come in, then. Since you're here, might as well sit down," she offered, trying to ease the tension between them.
Jimin sat down next to Winter on the bed, feeling a sense of relief as Winter started to eat.
"Why are you here? Are you not going to eat lunch?" Winter asked between bites of rice.
"I haven't eaten yet. I just wanted to stop by and see if you're okay and eating," Jimin replied softly, a faint smile on her lips.
"Aww, how sweet. Now go away and eat. You must be hungry," Winter teased gently, her tone affectionate despite her words.
