01 | The Signal Tower

Hello :3 before we start it's my first time writing, also spoilers for Little Nightmares, and Little Nightmares II. I recommend you to finish the game before reading this. I advance apologize for the worst grammar on Earth. I don't expect anything from this story, I just want to write some stuff since I kind of enjoy doing so, Anyways sorry for yippity yappity, enjoy :0

I could feel my vision blurring significantly, my ears ringing, and my head trembling. I scarcely stood up and looked around me. "Shoot, it's collapsing," I thought to myself. I desperately tried to find Six as I dug up the debris and saw her lying unconscious.

     "Please wake up," I said, in despair shaking her body slowly; I asked myself, how would we escape? "M-Mono?" She could hardly utter, yet it was distinct enough for me to hear.

     "I-I'm here," I took Six's hand and pulled her up slowly. I quickly hugged her, tears falling on her raincoat as I mumbled, "I-I thought you'd be gone forever- as a monster. You were out of control, I-I thought-" She hugged me tighter, I could feel the warmth of her body, it comforted me long enough until I heard a sound from the distance.

     I looked behind me and to my horror, I saw some sort of wall made of flesh, big eyes with black pupils of various sizes. It seemed like it was the flesh of the people who were consumed by the Signal Tower. I saw it accelerating towards us; with no time to react, I swiftly held Six's hand and ran. As we ran, the weird creature was seen everywhere around us, it sent chills down my spines by merely staring at one of it.

     I tripped and unexpectedly, Six ran past me without hesitation. I quickly got up as I saw the creature nearing me. I saw the exit, followed by a bridge that was already in segments. Seeing Six was halfway through, I ran as fast as I could despite my abilities.

     Having reached halfway, the bridge collapsed separating me and Six. She crouched, and held out her hand. I jumped towards her and grabbed it. Six and I gazed at each other momentarily, before she released my hand, destined to fall into the dark abyss.

     I always used to reflect upon what I did before. Questions kept repeating infinitely, "Was it because of what I did? What did I do wrong?" It made me crazy. Quarantined from everything, I was destined to be the host of this crooked tower. It wasn't long before I discovered a unique ability.

     Sometimes, I'd read in the library. I never thought there would even be a library in the Signal Tower. It's just the smell that ruins the experience. But one day, I saw a book that caught my mind. It was called, "The Signal Tower."

     I opened it up and learnt a lot about it's origin, the past, and the host. But more importantly - according to the previous hosts research, he had discovered that the Signal Tower exists not within the timeline but outside of it. Knowing this, maybe I could travel to other timelines where Six would still be there.

     "So... now what?" Six's Dark Self uttered, "I-I don't know," Six said reluctantly. The wind breeze swept across them as they sat on the Maw. "You have power now, you achieved your goal, what's next? Miss your little boyfriend?"

      "S-Shut-up," Six mumbled, "Who even are you in the first place?"

     "Me?" She chuckled and said, "You can call me Shadow Six."

     "W-well, what even are you?" She asked in a confused manner.

     "Well, I'm you pretty much you, your evil side. Remember when the Signal Tower took you? It separated the good and the bad side of you. It corrupted the good side of you, which is why you became a monster and attacked your boyfriend." Shadow Six chuckled.

     After a while, she felt dizzy and asked, "W-What are you doing!?" Shadow Six laughed and said, "Just taking control of your body for now."

     "Hey, stop don't do this-" She fell unconscious as Shadow Six gained control over her body.

     "Maybe you shouldn't have eaten everybody in the Maw including the Lady, maybe then you would've still had control; It was your fault you dropped him anyway," Shadow Six said. "Shut up, so what now? There's nothing left for us in this world. How would we eat now?"

     "It's simple, just as easy as dropping your boyfriend." Shadow Six chuckled before pausing and rolling her eyes at Six's conflicted feelings battling each other, "Fine I won't mention him. But, really, the solution to our problem is... Tada! Regression!"

     Six let out a sound of confusion, "What's.. that?"

     "Seriously? You've never heard of regression? Nothing? Well.. it's like, going back in time. Which, in our case, is what we need otherwise we'd starve." Shadow Six snorted, causally bringing up the topic of starvation as if it was merely a simple topic.

     "..Explain in simple words." Six muttered softly in Shadow Six's mind, her voice echoing throughout their shared body.

     "We go to a new world by regressing, get tossed back into a cycle of time and get to eat everyone in the maw again!"

     "Uhm.. so how do we do this?" Six asked, curious yet all the while confused.

     "We already can, considering you went on a hunger strike and decided to eat everyone!.. you didn't just eat their souls, you also ate their power, well, rather the Lady's power. That's what gets you the power of, wow, who would've guessed? Regression!"

     Six lightened up, her fingers twitching out of control to snap out of Shadow Six's control. "Let's do it now, can we?"

     "Absolutely! Not! We can't, unless you want to die, yeah sure we can go on ahead and do that. But, you're pretty much a weakling, I could hit you with a stick and you'd fall to the ground, the first thing we need is rest, not a door to death."

Thank you so much for bearing with me through this chapter :sob: It took forever to write just for it to reach no more than 650 words. I read a lot of theories like where in the end, Shadow Six has full control over Six because she consumed a lot of the dark smoke. I'm so sorry for the bad grammar and lore, I tried to write a bit since I was really bored over here and I'm in love with Little Nightmares that I wanted to try write a Fan Fiction about it.
