Friday Afternoon

There's no explaining it, but today feels like the longest and shortest day ever. When I think about how unprepared I am for the date with Rock, both physically and mentally, time seems to speed up. But then, when I just want this day to be over, every minute stretches into an hour.

I cant focus in any meeting, cant concentrate on work, twice today I sent the wrong email to wrong person, and I also broke my favourite coffee cup. I think this is all bad juju before the date, maybe we re not meant to be, maybe god is sending me signal in his code language.

My whole day is spent either fucking something up or thinking about god's signal, now all I need is a way to explain this signals to Rock.

I was drinking coffee and thinking about my plan to convince Rock of god's signal when Art and Hailey arrived with theirs bags and when I say bag I meant really big bags which looks like they are here for month stay. I totally forgot that they have taken it upon themselves to prepare me for my date.

"Ta-da! We're your fairy godmothers, your Cinderella!" Hailey announced, giving me an awkward curtsy

"I'm not going to this date, God has given me enough signals to know better" I told them simply

"What signals?" Hailey asked confused

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Go take a shower and shave. And by shave, I mean everything, no patches allowed. Just don't cut yourself, alright?" Art said, pushing me towards the bathroom.

"I m serious Art, I've decided that I m not going and this is my final decision" I told her with a serious face so she can understand I meant business

"Okay listen here bitch, you are either going yourself or me and hailey are going to force you and if you think we are joking then let me tell you we also bought rope for you in case we need it" Art said with a straight face and I believe her about rope.

This wouldn't be the first time she would be using rope and force method, when in high school I refused to pluck my eyebrows, with the help of beat she had tied me to a chair and plucked my eyebrows forcefully. Looking back, I have to admit it was a good call on her part. Otherwise, I'd probably still be a unibrow creature.

"Fine but I m only shaving my bits and pieces to entertain you. I m still gonna convince Rock to ditch this date" I said with sigh

"who's Rock" Hailey asked confused

"Aidan is Rock, she thinks he looks like Dwayne Johnson" Art answered while looking at her phone

"Yeah, he does" Hailey replied after thinking about it for a moment

"I don't know how you didn't noticed before" I said

"Stop stalling and stop wasting your time we are already five minutes late as per my schedule" Art said shoving me in bathroom,

I took the longest shower in the history as a silent act of rebellion but also end up shaving all of my bits and pieces and by all, I meant all.

When I came out I noticed that Hailey was engrossed in a complex hair tutorial, while Art paced back and forth – a telltale sign of her impatience. She spotted me and declared, "Praise the lord, she is here!"

Before I could protest, she practically dragged me to a chair in front of the mirror. "Hailey, work your magic on her hair. We only have an hour, sweetheart," Art instructed. Hailey simply nodded, setting up the straightener and various hairspray canisters.

"we still have one hour left" I said shocked, damn I only took 45 minutes to shower and shave and here I though it must be close to two hours

My fairy godmothers, as they liked to be called, launched into their beautification mission. It wasn't exactly painless. Every five minutes, Hailey would yank on a strand of hair, while Art was probing me with her modern makeup sticks.

Despite the discomfort, the time flew by. Perhaps it was because I was genuinely enjoying their company and not fixating on the upcoming date.

After my makeup they wouldn't give me time to look in the mirror they shoved some clothes at me and left the room with instruction to wear it next 5 minutes or they will make me.

When I came out of room wearing a black dress that clung to my every curve. The plunging neckline showcased enough cleavage to rival a porn movie starlet, and the hem ended a daring three inches above my knees. It was undeniably sexy, but completely out of character for someone who doesn't like attention, we are talking about me.

which fit me like second skin, it had a plunging neckline which showed enough cleavage for me to fit in struggling porn-star category and it ended 3 inches above my knees so overall the dress is hot and so not for someone like me who doesn't like attention.

"I thought we agreed on jeans and a top," I said, raising an eyebrow at their handiwork.

Art, unfazed, shoved a pair of nude, lace-up heels at me. Three inches high! "Here are your shoes."

"I'll break my neck in these," I protested. "Kitten heels are my limit."

Art rolled her eyes. "That's what my mom says too, but at fifty, she has the right. This dress demands heels, sweetheart. It's a fashion crime otherwise."

Hailey chimed in, "Exactly! You can't wear flats with this dress."

As I was glaring at them, a knock sounded at the door. Art and Hailey rushed to open it while I fumbled with the intricate laces of the heels.

"So, Aidan," Hailey teased Rock, "heard I've died in a traggic car accident."

"Nonsense, Hailey, with healthy body and beautiful face, I am pretty sure you are going to outlive us all" Rock chuckled, striding into the room just as I finished with the laces. He took one look at me and gasped. Hailey grinned, while Art wore a smug expression.

"You are looking beautiful, no let me find better word...Gorgeous, stunning, irresistible, captivating, tantalizing..." He said, his gaze so intense that I blushed furiously. Thankfully, Art intervened with a playful punch on his arm.

Rock looked sophisticated in a black button-down shirt and beige slacks, complemented by formal shoes and a sleek wristwatch. To say he was devastatingly handsome would be an understatement.

"Aren't you running late?" Art inquired.

A dimpled smile spread across Rock's face. "We are indeed." He looked at me, and for a moment, I felt myself getting lost in those dimples. It was as if they held the promise of a fantastic date, a date I was about to mess up entirely.

"Shall we go?" he asked, his smile widening.

"I can't," I mumbled, my gaze glued to the floor. If I looked at him any longer, especially those dimples, I was certain my mind would go blank.

Lyric of the day:

You just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace,
And control your urges to scream about all the people you hate.

Guess the song.
