Suddenly, they saw a large number of zombies running toward them.
"Stick together, everyone—" Mai began, but the rising panic caused the students to scatter in fear, running in all directions.
Mai quickly grabbed Aki's hand, pulling her along as they ran. Pearl, Holly, and two other girls followed closely behind.
They continued running until they reached the bathroom on the fourth floor, where they took refuge. Panting heavily from their sprint, they tried to catch their breath.
Yuli, the crying girl, broke the tense silence. "This is your fault! You're going to get us killed! You left the rest of us behind," she yelled at Mai.
"What are you talking about? I didn't leave anyone behind. I said to stick together, but they panicked. Do you think I kill the living or something?" Mai yelled back, her frustration evident.
"You just want to boss everyone around when you know nothing," Yuli yelled, escalating Mai's frustration to the point where she was about to hit Yuli.
Aki quickly intervened, pulling Mai back. "What are you doing, Mai? Calm down," she said, guiding Mai away from the confrontation.
"That's not fair," Mai muttered to herself, simmering with frustration.
They had been sitting in the bathroom for over two hours when Mai, still visibly frustrated, sighed and walked to the door, reaching for the handle.
Aki quickly stood up and grabbed her hand, pulling it away from the door handle. "What are you doing? Don't let your frustration get to you," Aki said, her tone also edged with frustration.
"I don't want to stay with them, Aki," Mai said, trying to reach the door again.
"Stop being stubborn, for God's sake, Mai," Aki insisted.
"None of your business, Aki," Mai blurted out suddenly.
Aki's eyes widened slightly. "Really? Okay, Mai, you can go," she said, stepping away.
"Aki—I'm sorry... I didn't mean it," Mai said, walking after her, a sigh of regret escaping her lips.
Aki stopped,she turned to look at mai,took a deep breath,speaking in a firm yet calm tone
"This isn't about us or our wants,it is about surviving,mai"
Mai frowned. "What do you mean? Everything has always been about us, Aki. Who cares about the others?" she said.
"Really? Now you're being selfish," Aki replied coldly, crossing her arms.
Mai sighed. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry."
"Whatever, Mai. Just drop it," Aki said, returning to her previous seat.
Mai also sat down, feeling a bit frustrated. "You should all thank God it wasn't Mei here with you," she muttered to herself.
"Are we going to spend our whole lives here?" Yuli asked in an annoyed, arrogant tone.
"Could you please shut up?" Aki replied, rolling her eyes.
Mai stood up and began wandering around the bathroom. She noticed several large pieces of cloth and then looked at Pearl.
"Hey, do you still have those scissors?" Mai asked.
Pearl nodded and handed them to Mai.
"What are you doing?" Aki asked, tilting her head.
"I have an idea, but I don't know if it will work. We might die, but it's worth the risk," Mai said. Aki stood up and walked over to offer her help.
"We'll disguise ourselves, but we need to lure one or two of them first to get their blood. We have to smell and look like them," Mai explained.
"Do you really think that will work?" Aki asked, crossing her arms, feeling a bit scared and doubtful.
"We'll see," Mai replied.
"Then why the pieces of cloth?" Holly asked.
"We can't put their blood on our clothes or skin; it might infect us. So, we need to cover ourselves with these cloths before applying the blood," Mai explained.
"You've always been smart," Aki muttered with a smirk.
Mai lured 2 walkers inside,and aki swiftly took care of the killing.
"Now what?" Aki asked,looking at Mai who was already wearing one of the pieces of cloths.
"Put these one"
Mai said,handing Aki a pair of gloves she had found
"Now smear me with their guts and splash their blood all over me"
Mai spoke
Aki nodded,putting in the gloves and cutting into the zombies,splashing a significant amount of blood on Mai
"Now we test it"
Mai muttered heading towards the door
"Hey,you're not going alone" Aki insisted,donning another piece of cloth and letting pearl do the same procedure on her
"No,I don't even know if it will work"
Mai protested concerned and worried about Aki
Aki approached,extending her hand for mai to hold
"Come one,Mai. It's always been us,right?"
Aki spoke in a soft low tone only for mai to hear
Mai sighed,looked down at her hand before at her,she felt worried about her,but then nodded taking her hand
Carefully they both got out,at first walkers (zombies) would eye,approached and sinnfle them,but then wander away
"It's working!!..."
Mai whispered excitedly
"You're a genius baby"
Aki whispered back and smiled
