Sonic's eyes landed on Maddie and a smile broke out on his face. "Oh hi pretzel lady!"

Maddie looked baffled and said hi back before she turned to her husband. "Tom?"

"Yeah?"

She nudged her head to the door as Sonic waved at her, though his movement was limited as both Shadow and Silver hugged him tightly.

"Can i talk to you please?" She turned to Sonic. "Space hedgehog... stay there. Try to rest." She turned to the other two hedgehogs. "Uhh thing 1 and thing 2? watch him."

Sonic nodded enthusiastically a fat grin on his face. "You got it! I'm great at resting. I rest faster than anybody."

Maddie saw Shadow facepalm as Silver snickered before she finally shut the door.
turning to the man behind her. "Um, first of all, can we take a moment to acknowledge how under control I've been?"

"Uh, amazing."

"Didn't freak out."

"No!"

"Totally calm." She smiled and fist bumped Tom. Tom smiled happily.

"Thank you."

"Second of all..." She put her hands up in a calm motion before throwing them down and talking in an angry whisper. "what the heck is going on?! Are those things aliens?!"

Tom sighed "So, remember how Crazy Carl is always going on about the Blue Devil and some sort of crazy bright glow that moved his crops?"

"The Blue Devil! That's them? they're real?" Maddie questioned. Tom nodded.

"And the white one is responsible for the glowing."

Maddie pinched her eyebrows together. "Doesn't matter, what are they doing here? What are you doing here?"

Tom chuckled nervously and rang his hands together. "I kinda.. sorta shot our little blue friend with your traq gun. His brothers are very over protective by the way watch out."

"No you did not." Maddie said heatedly as she crossed her arms and set Tom with a glare.

"I didn't mean to! Okay, this is kinda hard for me to explain. And it's gonna sound a little bit crazy. They have to get to the Transamerica building, and I promised I'd take them."

"Uh-uh! Aliens? Maddie, your husband's lost his mind. Use this as an opportunity to leave him. No one would judge you!"

Maddie turned to her sister, an unimpressed look on her face.

back inside the kitchen

"I'm definitely thing 1." Silver announced proudly."

"We're not even things Silver."

"Uhm yes we are, and i'm #1."

Both hedgehogs bickered back and forth as Sonic sat on the granite countertop swinging his feet back and forth before his brothers sat on either side of him. Shadow drew his knees up to his chest, messing with his gloves and a frown on his face while Silver and Sonic began to play Rock Paper Scissors. Jojo walked in holding bright red running shoes with a white strap. She smiled happily looking at Sonic.

"So you won't hurt your feet anymore!"

All three hedgehogs ears perked in surprise. Sonic had tears in his eyes as he took them. "Really?"

"Uh-huh."

"Nobody's ever given me a gift before... well besides these two." He sent a smile to his brothers. "Gotta check that off my bucket list."
