chapter 7

(AN: this one will be going off script just a little bit, it'll include a little more of Shadow and Silvers POV)

The brothers looked at each other as they fell, expressions filled with anger and betrayal.

"He tried to make us sit this one out!" Silver pouted, sitting criss cross apple sauce in the air, his hand on his chin. Shadow growled in annoyance.

"I'm not letting him. Do you think you could get us back up there?"

Silver grinned and nodded, grabbing his older brother and stopping their decent. Silver looked down at Tom and Maddie who were screaming and still falling. Shadow stopped him. "Don't, i trust Sonic, he's going to get them somewhere safe." They flew back up, hearing Roboniks next words.

"I was not expecting that... But I was expecting not to expect something, so it doesn't count."

It seemed like everything seem to pause and suddenly Sonic went from the safety of the roof to falling towards the ground, unconscious for just a moment before yelling and reaching for one of the rings.

The flying drones fired their weapons at Sonic, but now time seemed to have stopped and everything was frozen in place as Sonic's awareness was increased and he stood there, tapping his foot and looking at his wrist. He then played around with some of the missiles and bullets from the Egg Drone weapons and destroyed most of them.

Dr. Robotnik successfully pushed the button and the quill fully charged the Eggpod and granted him access to Sonic's timescale. Sonic made a shooting hands gesture to two more Egg Drones, but Dr. Robotnik fired a laser blast at Sonic, which he barely escaped from, his vision whited out then darkened before he woke up in slight delirium. His vision cleared and he recovered from his trance to find Tom and Maddie still falling and his brothers, who seemed to be headed towards him as he tried to reach for a Ring.

"Come on!" He made a swimming gesture trying to reach the ring. "Come on, come on, come on!"

He reached behind him and plucked one of his quills and used it to grab a ring. He zoomed down towards the falling couple and tossed the ring, he opened a portal to a barn back in green hills and they landed safely in a pile of hay.

Sonic started to lose control of his footing and wobbled. "Woah! Woah! Woah! No, no, no!"

Shadow and Silver continued to try and gain speed to catch up to their falling brother. "Silver!" Shadow yelled. "Try to reach him!"

Silvers arm flew out glowing a bright blue as he tried to pull Sonic back. "I can't reach!"

Before he could try again Sonic hit several tree branches and landed on the ground. The rings and a bunch of tree branches scattered around him.

"Sonic!" Both Shadow and Silver shouted at their brother, who was sprawled out on the cement, his eyes shut.

Back in Montana, a farmer greets Tom and Maddie, not at all phased by what he just saw. "Oh! Hi, Tom! Glad you're here. Could use your help. Old Bessie's about to give birth!"

As if she heard, the cow moo'd in response.

Tom sighed. "Give me a minute."

Back in San Francisco, Sonics eyes opened and he groaned, sitting up as he recovered from his fall. His brothers drop to either side of him. Shadow grabbed his arm as he turned him around, checking him over for injuries.

"It's okay Shadow i'm fine!" In response both the older hedgehogs rolled their eyes before they noticed Robonik hovering in the air in front of them.

"How precious," He spits it out like a hair in his mouth. "Family first am i right?"

The hovercraft inches closer. "Can I give you one genius piece of advice? Don't run. It'll only hurt more if you do." He then smiled as though he'd made a joke. "And it's bad for your joints, they proved it!"

Sonic's eyes narrowed, next to him Silvers fists clenched at his sides as Shadows gaze hardened, his deep red eyes filling with lightning, expressing his anger.

"All right Eggman." Silver said, and he smirked at the name.

"You wanna get fast?" Sonic interrupted as though the hedgehogs planned it, Shadow stepped forward.

"Let's. get. fast." He growled, his deep voice menacing. His deep ruby eyes flashing a bright red.

Sonic quickly picked up the rings and ran. Shadow sped next to him.

Despite Shadows speed the other two hedgehogs couldn't quite keep up with the youngest. He's never gone this fast!" Silver gasped.

"Well he's never had a psycho chasing after him either." Shadow replied back. Both trying desperately to keep up. Unfortunately Sonic threw a ring and before either hedgehogs could run after and reach, the mad doctor passed them, the speed throwing them back.

The ring closed before they could recover. Both hedgehogs shouted in rage. "Why do you think the man is so much more interested in Sonic than us? He's seems hellbent on getting him."

Shadow thought for a moment. "I believe Sonic triggered the chase mechanism. He taunted the egg looking man and made him angry. In return the doctor chased him when he ran." He paused before smirking and holding up a ring. "It gives us a chance to catch him by surprise."

Silver jumped excitedly. "Yes!"

Shadow smiled fondly at his brother before adjusting the ring in his palm. "Green Hills Montana." He spoke and threw it. The ring spun before glowing brightly and opening a portal. As the two stepped through their forms became
silhouettes as the ring closed behind them.
