Akira Kaneda walked briskly toward the dormitory, the excitement of his first day at Tokyo University still fresh in his mind. The tall, modern building seemed welcoming, with its clean lines and large windows. He checked the dormitory's layout map he had received earlier and headed towards the building's main entrance.

Inside, the dormitory buzzed with activity. Students were moving in, setting up their rooms, and exchanging greetings. Akira made his way to the elevator, his heart racing with anticipation for the next phase of his new life.

The elevator doors slid open on his floor, and Akira walked down the hallway, locating his room with ease. As he approached, he noticed the door was slightly open. Curious, he pushed it open, only to freeze in place.

Standing in the middle of the room, arranging her belongings with methodical precision, was Suzune Horikita. Her sharp, focused eyes met his with an expression that was a mix of surprise and recognition.

"Horikita?" Akira said, his voice a blend of confusion and curiosity.

Suzune's eyes widened as she took in his appearance. "Ayanokoji...? Is that really you?"

The recognition was immediate and profound. Suzune Horikita, his old classmate from high school, had been one of the few who had seen through the layers of his persona back then.

"I didn't expect to see you here," Akira said, trying to keep his voice calm and controlled. "What are you doing in my dorm room?"

Suzune's expression shifted from shock to a guarded neutrality. "I'm your new roommate," she said matter-of-factly. "I guess the university thought it would be amusing to place us together."

"Well, this is unexpected. I didn't know you were coming here."

Suzune set down a box and crossed her arms. "I applied here after graduating. I didn't expect to find you here, especially not under the name Kaneda. What are you doing with this new identity?"

Akira took a deep breath, searching for the right words. "I've left my old life behind, Horikita. I wanted a fresh start, away from the past and the White Room. I'm Akira Kaneda now. That's all you need to know."

Suzune's gaze softened, but her curiosity remained evident. "You've changed a lot since high school. I can see that. But if you're really trying to start over, why keep your past hidden?"

"I'm not hiding," Akira said, his tone firm. "I'm simply moving forward. I don't want to be defined by what happened before. I'm here to build a new life, just like everyone else."

Suzune considered his words, then nodded slowly. "Alright. I can respect that. I suppose we should focus on making this dorm arrangement work. It's going to be a unique experience, having an old acquaintance as a roommate."

Akira nodded in agreement. "Yes, let's focus on that. I'll do my best to respect your space and privacy, and I hope you'll do the same."

As they began unpacking and organizing their shared space, an unspoken understanding formed between them. Suzune was perceptive and intelligent, qualities that Akira both respected and found challenging. He knew she would likely keep a close watch on him, but for now, he hoped their shared experience could be mutually beneficial.

Throughout the evening, they worked side by side, exchanging occasional words but mostly focusing on the task at hand. Akira kept his interactions polite but distant, carefully maintaining the boundary between his past and present selves.

Later that night, as he lay in his bed, Akira couldn't help but think about the strange twist of fate that had brought Suzune back into his life. Their paths had crossed once again, and he wondered what this new chapter would hold.

As he drifted into sleep, he resolved to navigate this unexpected encounter with as much grace and honesty as possible. The road ahead was uncertain, but he was determined to face it with the same resilience that had carried him through the trials of the White Room.

The next morning, Akira was greeted by the hustle and bustle of campus life once again. As he prepared for his classes, he couldn't shake the feeling that Suzune Horikita's presence was both a challenge and an opportunity—a reminder that even in a new beginning, the past had a way of catching up.
