The night air was cool as Jisoo and Chaeyoung strolled along the secluded path that led to the beach. The stars were scattered across the sky, their light reflecting off the gentle waves that rolled onto the shore. Jisoo felt a strange mix of serenity and turmoil. Being with Chaeyoung felt like a dream she didn’t want to wake from, but the reminder of her mission loomed heavily in the back of her mind.

“Jisoo, I’m really glad we’re doing this,” Chaeyoung said, her voice soft and sincere. They had stopped at a quiet spot where the sand met the ocean, the waves lapping at their feet.

“Me too,” Jisoo replied, her heart aching at the thought of what might come next.

Chaeyoung turned to face Jisoo, her eyes shimmering in the moonlight. “I know I haven’t been the best partner lately. My work keeps me so busy, and sometimes I feel like I’m abandoning you.”

Jisoo shook her head, wanting to reassure her. “Chaeyoung, you don’t have to apologize. I understand.”

“But I don’t want you to just understand,” Chaeyoung insisted, taking Jisoo’s hands in hers.

“I want to make it up to you. I want us to spend more time together and make up for all the moments we missed.”

Jisoo felt her resolve wavering as she looked into Chaeyoung’s eyes, filled with love and determination. She had planned this vacation as a cover for her revenge, but being here with Chaeyoung, she couldn’t deny the powerful connection between them.

“I love you, Jisoo,” Chaeyoung said softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Jisoo’s face and tucking it behind her ear. The tenderness in her touch sent a shiver down Jisoo’s spine.

Before Jisoo could stop herself, she leaned in, her lips meeting Chaeyoung’s in a kiss that ignited fireworks between them. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them, wrapped in each other’s warmth.

When they finally pulled away, breathless and with their foreheads touching, Jisoo whispered, “I wish it could be like this forever.”

Chaeyoung smiled, her eyes searching Jisoo’s. “Do you think we’d always be together in different universes?” she asked, her voice barely audible over the sound of the waves.

Jisoo’s heart skipped a beat, her mind racing. How much did Chaeyoung know? Could she sense the truth about their realities? She didn’t know how to respond, the words catching in her throat.

Chaeyoung gave her a gentle smile, as if she understood Jisoo’s turmoil. “I would know…” she said softly, leaving Jisoo to ponder the weight of those words.

As they walked back to the villa, hand in hand, Jisoo felt a deep conflict within her. Chaeyoung’s words echoed in her mind, causing her to doubt everything. Could she really leave this life behind? Could she forsake the love she had found with Chaeyoung for the sake of revenge?

Lisa was waiting for them in the living room, her expression unreadable as they entered. Jisoo could see the question in her eyes but didn’t know how to answer it.

“We’re back,” Jisoo said, trying to keep her voice steady.

“Did you have a good time?” Lisa asked, her tone neutral.

“Yes,” Chaeyoung replied, smiling at Jisoo. “It was perfect.”

“Good,” Lisa said, her eyes flicking to Jisoo with a look that said they needed to talk. “I’ll leave you two to rest. Tomorrow is a big day.”

As Chaeyoung went to their room, Jisoo lingered in the living room with Lisa. The silence was heavy, filled with unspoken questions.

“What’s wrong?” Lisa finally asked, her voice low.

Jisoo hesitated, then shook her head. “I don’t know if I can do this,” she admitted, her voice barely a whisper.

“You have to,” Lisa said firmly. “Remember why we’re here. Remember what he did to you.”

“I know,” Jisoo said, her eyes filling with tears. “But Chaeyoung… I love her, Lisa. I don’t want to leave her.”

Lisa’s expression softened slightly. “I understand, but you need to decide what’s more important: your revenge or your happiness. You can’t have both.”

Jisoo nodded, knowing Lisa was right. But the choice seemed impossible. She went to bed that night, lying next to Chaeyoung, who was already asleep. She watched her wife’s peaceful face, feeling the weight of her decision pressing down on her.

As she finally drifted off to sleep, she knew that whatever she chose, it would change everything. And she could only hope she had the strength to face the consequences.
