Jisoo rushed into the hospital, her heart in her throat. Jennie had burst outside, her face pale and panicked, interrupting the conversation Jisoo was having with Lisa. The urgency in Jennie's eyes propelled Jisoo forward, her feet barely touching the ground as she raced through the sterile corridors.
She skidded to a halt outside Chaeyoung's room just as the doctor was stepping out. His expression was a mix of relief and exhaustion.
"Is she alright?" Jisoo's voice trembled, her eyes wide with fear.
The doctor nodded, offering a reassuring smile. "Chaeyoung lost a lot of blood, but she's fine and stable now. She'll need to remain in the hospital for a while to ensure there are no complications. She was very lucky—the bullet didn't do any crucial damage."
"She's awake right now and has been asking for you." He also adds, "you're wife sure does talk about you. Although visitor hours are over, I'll make you an exception."
Jisoo let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. "Thank you, doctor."
As he walked away, Jisoo took a moment to compose herself before entering the room. The sight of Chaeyoung, pale but awake, hit her hard. Chaeyoung was staring blankly at the ceiling, her face drawn and weary.
Jisoo knocked softly on the door. Chaeyoung's head turned, and a smile immediately lit up her face upon seeing Jisoo.
"Hey," Chaeyoung greeted softly.
Jisoo rushed to her side, her emotions overflowing. "Chaeyoung, I'm so sorry for everything. For putting you in danger, for not seeing this coming. I—" Her voice broke, and tears streamed down her face.
Chaeyoung reached out, her hand finding Jisoo's. "Hey, it's okay. I'm here, aren't I?"
Jisoo nodded, her tears falling onto Chaeyoung's hand. "I was so scared I'd lose you."
Chaeyoung squeezed her hand gently. "Jisoo, there's something I need to tell you. I came back for a second chance. I wanted to get to know you, the girl I met at the cafe, the one I've seen so many times before, and especially the one who completes me. I've waited for this moment for a long time, and I'm so glad I found you."
Jisoo looked into Chaeyoung's eyes, her heart swelling with love and gratitude. "I'm glad we have this second chance to start fresh," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
Chaeyoung laughed softly, a sound that filled Jisoo with warmth. "Do you still have the necklace?"
Jisoo nodded, reaching into her pocket and pulling out the guitar pick necklace. She handed it to Chaeyoung, who smiled and held it close.
"You want to know something?" Chaeyoung asked, "The pick is my lucky necklace."
"It was lucky indeed."
I may have been a fool.
The two spent the night together in the hospital room, Jisoo never leaving Chaeyoung's side. As the days passed, Jisoo took care of Chaeyoung, bringing her flowers and spending every possible moment with her. Chaeyoung, in turn, tried teaching Jisoo to play the guitar, their laughter echoing through the halls at how bad Jisoo was. They played video games with Lisa, while Jennie watched and cheered them on, the room filled with a sense of friends and love.
I may have gotten my revenge.
As the days passed by, Chaeyoung would be released, she would come home to find all the butlers and maids rushing over to her crying.
"I'm okay..." Chaeyoung would try, but to no avail.
"WE MISSED YOU MRS. PARK!"
"I missed you guys too." Chaeyoung sighs looking over at Jisoo who was laughing.
"Fine..." She looks back at them and opened her arms, "bring it in."
Within a second, she was bombarded with hugs from everyone. To her, they were never just butlers and maids, no, they were her family. A part of her. Although Chaeyoung was too brave to admit it, she too got teary eyed.
I may have done it all now.
Jisoo stood in the garden, watering the roses. The sun was shining, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers. The maids worked alongside her, planting new crops as she guided them with a gentle smile. She loved the peace and beauty of the garden, a stark contrast to the chaos and fear of the past.
Arms wrapped around her from behind, and Jisoo leaned into the touch, recognizing the familiar warmth. Chaeyoung, in a pink dress, stood behind her, a smile lighting up her face.
"You're doing a wonderful job," Chaeyoung whispered, kissing Jisoo's neck softly.
Jisoo smiled, leaning back into her wife's embrace. "Thanks, love. The butlers are helping you with the animal-shaped bushes?"
Chaeyoung chuckled. "Yes, they're doing great. We're going to have a topiary zoo soon."
Jisoo turned around in Chaeyoung's arms, planting a loving kiss on her lips. "We have a lot of work to do," she said, brushing some dirt off Chaeyoung's cheek.
Nearby, Jennie and Lisa were also helping out. Lisa was grumbling under her breath. "I was supposed to spend the day with you, not do stupid garden work."
Jennie laughed, patting Lisa's shoulder. "If you help with the daisies, I'll make sure you have me all to yourself tonight."
Lisa's eyes lit up, and she rushed off to help the maids with a newfound enthusiasm, leaving Jennie shaking her head with a smile.
But I now vow,
Jisoo watched the scene unfold, her heart full. Despite everything they had been through, they had found a way to move forward, to build a life filled with love and hope. She turned back to Chaeyoung, their hands intertwined, and knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
And as the sun set, casting a golden glow over the garden, Jisoo felt a profound sense of peace. They had fought for their second chance, and now, they were living it to the fullest.
To take my second chance with her.
