Chapter 3 - Zadkiel

(No trigger warning for this chapter bc Zad doesn't have trauma yippee!!)

Zadkiel teleported back to heaven, barely able to stand. He was exhausted and teleportation made it worse. "Oh my father, what happened to you?" It could make out the sound of its brother's voice. 

"It's nothing, Leroy." He muttered.

"It's not nothing when disappear for a week and show up like this." Leroy moved his hands underneath Zadkiel's armpits to hold him up. 

Zadkiel just chuckled. "It hasn't been a week, that would mean I went a full week without rest-"

Leroy sighed. "Zad, if you keep this up you'll burn yourself out."

Zadkiel scoffed. "Its fine Leroy, no need to worry about me."

Leroy rolled his eyes. "Lets get you to your room, you need to rest." Zadkiel grumbled in response and Leroy helped it walk to its bedroom. Once, they were there, Zadkiel slumped onto its bed. "There you go, Zad."

He smiled softly at his older brother. "I love you, Lee."

Leroy smiled back. "I love you too, Zad."

They laid there for a moment, holding each other in complete silence before the door opened and a tall man appeared in the doorway. "Zadkiel, you're back."

Zadkiel looked up at his father. "Hey..."

God smiled and sat at the end of the bed. "Are you alright? You've been gone for a full week."

Zadkiel crossed his arms. "Dad, I'm alright."

God frowned at his son, "I'm just worried you'll overwork yourself again." He placed a hand on Zadkiel's head and ruffled its hair. "You're entitled to a break as much as anyone else, you know that right?" Zadkiel nodded in response. "Good. Now get some rest, we can talk later." God stood and motioned for Leroy to follow him out. "Stop by my office once you wake up, okay?"

"Okay, father." God smiled and closed the door.

Zad rolled over at sat up in his bed. He was tired, but it was too bright for him to take a nap right now. It looked around in his room and his gaze paused on this collection of ducks. There weren't very many, only about 12 but they were all gifts from Samael before he fell. (Lucifer's name before he fell)

-flashbacks-

"Z?" Samael walked over to a young Zadkiel who was curled up in a ball, soft sobbing noises coming from him.

"Go away." It muttered.

Samael sighed and sat next to Zadkiel, not touching him, just sitting near him. "Do you need silence right now?" Sam asked. Zadkiel nodded. It was over stimulated, but having its brother by its side was helping calm it down.

After a moment, Zadkiel let his arms fall to his side and he looked over at Samael who just smiled and held up a little duck, it had long brown hair, purple bunny ears and a small fluffy tail. "My name is Hasdiel and I'm a sad." He spoke for the duck. "And I am Lucifer and I'm here to cheer you up!" He continued, pulling out another duck that resembled himself. (Zadkiel also goes by Hasdiel if you look it up so I'm using those as nicknames from when they were kids)

Zadkiel giggled and took the duck that was meant to be it.

"Would you like a hug, Hasdiel?" Samael asked, as the duck. 

Zadkiel moved the duck up an down and responded in a slightly higher pitched voice, "I would like that, Lucifer."

Samael smiled and gave his brother a hug. "I love you, Z."

"I love you too, Sammy."

-2nd flashback-

Leroy placed his hand on Zadkiel's shoulder, they were standing in the heavenly court with his twin brother Samael standing in the middle. "I- I just wanted to give them free will, I didn't mean for it to hurt anyone!" He pleaded.

Sera just frowned. "I sentence you to an eternity in hell, there we will send all the horrible sinners you've created with your selfish act of rebellion."

"Samael no!" Zadkiel cried causing its older brother Azrael to give it a stern look that said 'not now, Zadkiel.' He tried to shrink down and disappear but he couldn't. Everything he had was crumbling at his fingertips and he was helpless to stop it. 

"Sera please, don't do this-" but before Samael could plead his case, Lilith appeared before him. "Lili?" He stared up at Sera.

"You and Lilith are now banished from heaven." She stated sternly.

"W-what..." Zadkiel felt tears prick in the corner of his eyes, everything went fuzzy after that but he distinctly remembered the sound of Sam pleading with Sera as his voice became softer and softer and eventually, you couldn't hear it at all.

-end flashback-

Zadkiel smiled at the two ducks in the middle, one resembling him and the other, his twin brother Samael. It stood up and walked over to the display case where it kept them. "Hi, Lucifer. How's it going?" He chuckled. "I really am worn out, I'm talking to ducks." The smile painted onto the Samael duck seemed to grow a bit. "I miss you, Sammy. Why'd you have to leave me like that?" It sighed. "I knew you were infatuated with that human girl Lilith, but what could you have done to make Sera so angry with you?"

He opened the display case and picked up the small Samael duck. "Where are you?" It walked over to its bedside table and placed the duck on it, facing the bed. "I love you, Sammy."

A/N

Hehehe, oops, he might have a little trauma.... Its okay tho bc its not that prominent, mainly I did that to be evil- I mean express his love for his brother.

Also, if anyone is wondering, Hasdiel is another name for Zadkiel, if you look it up it shows both names but Zadkiel is the more common one so that's why I'm using it. Hasdiel is going to be his childhood nickname given to him by Lucifer and also the name he uses on earth when he's disguised as a human. Samael is Lucifer's name before he fell (idk where that came from but Google says so) and Lucifer can be the nickname Zadkiel gave him! :3 

In my story (I wouldn't entirely call it an AU but whatever) Zadkiel, Lucifer and Leroy are triplets but Luci and Zad were WAY closer since Leroy is the oldest triplet and spent most of his time hanging out with Azrael, Uriel and sometimes Gabriel. 

I'm stealing some aspects of the archangels from RPs in one of the servers I'm in so, props to them for making these characters amazing! 

Next chapter will be a time skip so we're all in the same timeframe. 23 years after Daddy entered hell, 15 years since Casil entered heaven and 6 months after when this chapter takes place.

Finally, I was gonna post this yesterday but I had a lot of trouble deciding what I was gonna write so I finished it today. To make up for it, I'll post another chapter today as well!
