Bianca awoke with a start. "Duncan?!" She called out immediately as she shot up. Her breaths were laborious and she was trembling. She grabbed her dress at her chest, trying her best to calm herself down. "What's wrong with me?!" She thought. "Why am I like this? Did I.. have a bad dream?" Gathering herself, she looked around the room. "Where am I?!" She was in a bunker of some sort. "Hello?" She called again, only a bit more calmly this time.
No response but the sound of water was heard coming from another room.
She rose off the bed she had been placed on and walked around the room.
There was a small desk and a filing cabinet on one wall. A shelf and safe was on another. The room was pretty empty other than that. Opposite of the shelf was a door.
She ran to it, tugging on the handle, but it was locked. "Help me!" She screamed. "Somebody help me!" Her head suddenly began to throb. She whimpered, pressing her hands to her temples. Once the throbbing stopped, she lowered her hands, once again looking around the room. Everything came back at once. "It... wasn't a dream?! Where am I?" She questioned again, only out loud this time.
"Ah, good morning, my little dove." A familiar male voice spoke suddenly.
She whipped around, startled by his voice.
Duncan cocked his head provocatively, as he exited the wash room, a pan with cool water and a wash cloth in his hands.
"Duncan?!" She gasped and backed into the door. His masked gaze both turned her on and frighten her, but it was his presence that actually scared her. Because of what had happened, she now feared him.
He could see the fear on her face and it felt like he was being stabbed in the chest. "Darling, it's okay! You are safe!"
She looked around.
He held back for a moment, watching her eyes dart around the room as her breaths became almost labored once again. "Bianca?" He spoke softly.
She looked at him.
"It's okay, sweetheart."
"No! It's not okay!! Where am I?!" She cried.
Before he could answer, she suddenly whimpered and squeezed her eyes shut as she touched her forehead.
"Bianca?!"
"My head hurts." She said in a pained whisper.
"I can give you something for that. I am so glad you are finally awake. I was starting to worry." He placed the pan on the floor beside the bed and then grabbed a bottle of water. "You have been asleep for three days. I have brought you some food and water. I'm sorry to do this to you but it is for your own safety." He neared her. "As soon as things calm down, and I know you won't run off, I shall take you from this place, but this will be your home for now. I have gathered some supplies from your house to make you a little more comfortable." He opened the water and held it towards her. "Drink."
She took it from him and began to guzzle it down.
He brushed her hair from her face. "I bet you are quite thirsty."
Once she finished off the water, she pulled the bottle from her lips. "What did you do to me?! Where am I?!" She nearly cried again making her head hurt. She whined and dropped the empty bottle, grabbing the sides of her head as she winced in pain.
"I made a mistake and I regret it. I am sorry, Bianca." He pulled her into his arms. "You are safe now, darling. That's all that matters." He lifted her into his arms suddenly and moved toward the bed. "Get some more rest. You need it to regain your strength." He laid her down before grabbing the wash cloth and ringing it out. He then dabbed her forehead and neck with it.
She closed her eyes, allowing herself to relax as best she could.
"You have a slight fever, darling." He wet the cloth again before ringing it out and dabbing her forehead once again. "This will help ease it. I am sorry for what I did by bringing a Doctor into this. What happened was not my intention. I wanted to protect you, but I almost got you killed." He soaked the cloth again, rang it out, and dabbed it on her neck and chest. "Forgive me, darling." He dropped the cloth into the pan and pressed his fingers to her temples, massaging gently.
Just watching the tension and pain disappear from her face made him smile.
Before long, she was completely relaxed and calm. A soft moan escaped her. "That feels really good." She whispered.
"I'm glad." He replied softly. "You should eat something and then take some of that medicine. It's sitting on the desk by the food. It will help, darling."
She slowly opened her eyes and looked up at him.
He leaned close to her and removed his mask long enough to kiss her damp forehead.
A breath escaped her lips. His soft kiss gave her butterflies. She grabbed his wrist, stopping him from putting his mask back on. "Duncan?" She whispered softly.
He lowered his head to look at her. "Yes, darling?"
"Please stay." She whispered as she moved her hand to his cheek. She licked her lips before biting her lower lip. "I want to kiss you so bad!" She thought.
He smiled. "I have to go, Bianca." He kissed her cheek. "Rest. I shall return."
She slowly pulled her hand back, her fingers caressing his cheek gently. "Okay."
He pulled his gloves from his pocket and put them on as he rose up and began moving to the door. "I must go to work. I shall bring you more food and water later this evening." He looked back at her as he opened the door. "I promise you are safe here. Please trust me, darling."
She nodded. "I trust you, Duncan."
He left and closed the door behind him.
As soon as she heard it lock, she rolled over to face the wall and dozed off.
