They made it to the park and Duncan took a few quick looks around before they walked towards the play area.
Bianca took a seat on one of the swings and he began to push her gently.
She smiled behind her mask. "Imagine a life without all this. Where people aren't afraid of living! This park would be full of families having picnics, and children laughing and playing."
He grabbed the chains and stopped the swing, leaning forward to look down at her. "Our children would be among them, having so much fun!"
She looked up at him and giggled softly. "Yes! Oh, Duncan, it would be so wonderful!"
He released the chains and wrapped his arms around her, his hands caressing her stomach. "Mmm, darling, how many children do you want to give me?"
She placed her hands on his and tilted her head against his. "As many as you want!"
"Oh? Hmm, I never thought about that before!" She moved her hands as he pushed his right hand beneath the trench coat and rubbed her stomach. "If we can leave this place, we will get a big house and have lots of children! Besides, it's so much fun making a baby. That's the best part!"
She giggled.
He pulled his left hand back and moved his mask enough so he could kiss her neck passionately. "We'll start with four, my love. How does that sound?"
"Sounds perfect!" Her smile faded as she lowered her head.
Despite the smiling mask on her face, he knew something was bothering her. "What's wrong, darling?"
"I'm scared." She whispered as she placed her hand back on his. "What are we going to do when the baby comes? I'll need a real doctor. A nurse even. There are no hospitals here."
"We have two more months to find a way out of here." He wrapped his arms around her. "Don't worry, baby! Everything will be all right!"
Some footsteps were soon heard approaching them.
Duncan released her and fixed his mask as he looked up to see a man.
Bianca also looked. "Arthur?!" She gasped, recognizing his clothes as she nearly jumped off the swing.
"Bianca?!" He ran to her, pulling her into a tight hug. "I thought you were dead!"
She returned his hug. "It's so good to see you, Arthur!"
"Let me get a look at you." He pushed her back slightly. "I see you are still in one piece!"
She giggled and pulled off her mask. "Indeed. Duncan has taken very good care of me. We are married now."
He looked up at Duncan. "Well now, I suppose some congratulations are in order! She has been in love with you for some time, Constable Banister."
Duncan nodded. "The feelings were quite mutual, Mr. Hastings. Also," He held a bottle of scotch before him. "You are going to be an Uncle."
"Excuse me?" Arthur's eyes widened. "You mean?" He looked down at Bianca. "You are with child?" He asked in a surprised whisper.
She nodded. "Please don't be mad."
He took off his mask, a large smile spread across his lips. "I'd never, my dear little sister!" He took the scotch from Duncan's hand. "I am very happy for you, but what are you going to do? How do you plan to keep that secret?"
"One day at a time, Mr. Hastings." Duncan replied. "That's all we can do, until we find a way to leave."
"If you find a way, please let me know. I would love to get out of here as well." He looked back down at Bianca. "May I see?"
She nodded and pulled the trench coat open, revealing her stomach.
He knelt down and placed his mask and the bottle of scotch on the ground before touching her stomach. He smiled tenderly. "So beautiful." He whispered. He looked up at her. "How? Joy is supposed to make us sterile."
Duncan removed his mask and tucked it under his left arm before he grabbed her biceps gently. He leaned forward. "I have not been forcing her to take Joy. She no longer wanted it, and I was fine with that."
Arthur's eyes widened as he looked up at him. "You... Constable Banister, you are the first to enforce the law! I have to admit, this is most surprising from you, but... what about you? Aren't you still taking your Joy?"
Duncan chuckled. "Yes, I suppose it is. I love your sister, Mr. Hastings! I was blind at first and it almost got her killed. I do still continue to take Blackberry. I don't have a choice given my job, but I am also not yet ready to face the withdrawals. She can stay hidden. I cannot. I don't know how I got her pregnant but I do know Blackberry is much different then regular Joy. I will continue to enforce the law as long as we remain here but she is my most treasured secret!"
Arthur grabbed his mask and scotch as he stood. "And she is also mine! It's nice to finally put a face to the man who stole her heart."
Bianca smiled deeply as she looked up at Duncan.
He looked back at her and kissed her forehead before embracing her, pulling her smaller body against his. "She equally stole mine. I honestly never thought this kind of happiness existed."
Arthur smiled. It was strange seeing a Constable behaving in such a way, especially him. Constable Banister's brutality earned him quite the reputation among his fellow officers, and the populace. His knack for enforcing the rules was unmatched by any other Constable but it appeared this brutal officer had a soft spot and Bianca found it. Arthur could never look at him the same way again but he welcomed it. He was very happy for them.
Uncle Jack's voice was soon heard over the intercoms, followed by a rumble of thunder. It was fifteen minutes to curfew.
Duncan released Bianca and put on his mask.
Arthur put his mask back on and pulled her into a hug. "I love you, Bianca!"
She returned his hug. "I love you too, Arthur!"
He pulled away from her. "I better get going. I don't have a handsome Constable by my side to keep me safe." He winked at her.
"Mr. Hastings, please, do join us for dinner some time."
Arthur nodded. "I'd love to!"
She smiled before putting her mask back on. "Bye, Arthur."
"Good bye, Bianca."
He made haste, disappearing down the dirt path towards town.
Bianca looped her arm with Duncan's as they started walking down the path. "Thank you for letting me see my brother!"
"Anything for you, my darling!"
A large bolt of lightning scattered across the sky above them suddenly.
She looked up, catching the end of it. "Wow!"
He also looked up before looking back down at her. "We better hurry before we get caught in a downpour!"
The wind began to kick up as a rumble of thunder was heard in the distance.
"Sounds like the storm is getting closer." She said, looking at him.
"It is. It's supposed to be particularly nasty tonight."
"Oooo!" She giggled. "Perfect weather for some hot tea and a bit of cuddling!"
He chuckled. "Indeed!" He leaned close. "Would cuddling, perhaps, lead to the bedroom?"
She giggled again and stepped in front of him, grabbing his coat at his chest. "Oh, you know it would, handsome." She whispered seductively.
He grabbed her hips. "I love you, baby!"
"I love you too!" She released his chest and grabbed his hand. "Now I can't wait to get home!"
"Me either, darling!"
They continue on their way.
They heard some chatting and looked to see a pair of Constables come around the bend, nearing them.
"Ah, good evening, Duncan!" One greeted as they stopped in front of them.
"His voice!" She thought looking up at him. "Why does he sound so familiar?"
"Good evening, Charles!" Duncan replied.
"You have quite a lovely lady on your arm!" The other chimed in, dropping a hand to his partner's shoulder.
"Agreed! Very lovely indeed!" Charles added as he looked down at her.
There was a tone to his voice. It hinted lust and desire, and she picked up on it right away.
"Thank you, gentlemen! Good evening to you, by the way, Thomas!"
Bianca's eyes widened. "It's them!" She thought, subconsciously taking a step back.
