She gasped and whipped around, releasing her hair which fell gracefully around her face. "Constable Banister?!"
"Wow!" He gasped inwardly. "She is beautiful!" He thought, his eyes scanning her face.
Her skin was smooth and flawless with a cream color. Her almond shaped eyes were a gorgeous shade of green mixed with just a hint of blue. A strand of hair dangled over her left eye which she brushed away. A button nose complemented her high cheekbones.
His eyes lowered to her slightly parted lips which were full and plump; A faint strawberry red kissed them and just a hint of gloss was visible. "You are absolutely beautiful." He whispered almost to himself.
"What?"
He raised his eyes back to hers. "You are very beautiful! No, you are beyond beautiful!! You are gorgeous!!" He gushed as he neared her. "Please, darling, call me Duncan. I mentioned to you before that there was no need for the formalities. I would prefer that you referred to me by my first name, my dear."
She gasped and touched her cheek with her left hand, remembering her mask was not upon her face. She quickly turned away from him. "You are not supposed to see me like this, Duncan!"
He touched her shoulder. She didn't fight him as he gently turned her back around to face him. "I won't tell if you won't."
She smiled shyly. He was so close she could smell his cologne. It was a delicious smell.
He moved his hand to gently glide his fingers through her golden locks. Even with the gloves on, he knew her hair was silky smooth.
Her heart began to thump in her chest. His touch was extremely intimate. She lowered her head shyly before turning her eyes to the counter. "It's time for me to take my Joy."
He released her and grabbed the pill.
Her eyes widened. "Oh no!" She thought. "Surely he'd feel it's empty!"
Sure enough, he looked at it oddly, crushing the empty shell in his fingers. "What is this?! Is this yours, darling?" He asked, looking at her.
She shook her head. "No. I didn't even see that." She lied. "My bottle is right there." She pointed.
"Huh, that's strange." He shrugged it off, tossing the pill casting into the trash bin.
She grabbed her mask, preparing to put it back on.
He stopped her, pulling it from her hands. "You are far more beautiful then I ever imagined."
She smiled and turned her head away from him, her cheeks flushed. "Thank you, Duncan!"
"You needn't shy away from me, darling." He touched her chin, gently turning her head back to look her in the eyes.
She could feel her heart began to race once again. One of the things that she was attracted to was his voice. She was a sucker for accents and his was exceptionally attractive; His tone strong and deep.
He lowered his hand and leaned towards her. "Your brother invited me for dinner Friday night. Is that okay with you, darling?"
"I...I..." She couldn't find the words. She wanted to say 'yes' but her mind was going a million miles an hour. "Arthur invited him?!" She thought. She was finally going to get a chance to have some sore of a date with him, even if her brother was going to be there, and her words were stuck. Not to mention, he was so close she could lean in for a kiss if not for his mask obstructing his face. Her lips parted slightly as she lowered her eyes to the lips of his mask.
He grabbed her hand making her look back into his eyes. "Please? It would give us a chance to get to know each other."
She smiled tenderly. "I would love...."
"Bianca Hastings!?" Victoria Byng interrupted, nearing the break room.
She gasped and pulled her mask from his hand, quickly pulling it over her face. "Yes, director? I am here!"
Victoria entered the room. "I have been looking everywhere for you! You're late! How do you expect to be the next employee of the month like your brother, Arthur?"
"I'm sorry, ma'am. I had to come and get my bottle of Joy from my locker."
"Ah, have you taken your dose?"
Bianca nodded. "Yes, ma'am."
Duncan looked at Bianca, cocking an eyebrow.
She took a glance at him, noting how his eyes looked down at her. She gasped inwardly as she quickly lowered her head. "I just lied about taking Joy, and in front of a Constable. Did he realize that?!"
"Very good." Victoria interrupted her thoughts. "Now, get to work." She looked at Duncan. "Do you not have a post that needs attending to, Constable Banister?" She questioned. "You are not scheduled for a break yet."
"Yes, ma'am." He replied as he took a glance at Victoria. "I am aware. I only came to grab another bottle of water."
Victoria nodded before she spun on her heals and headed out the door.
"Maybe he didn't catch it?" Bianca thought as she looked back up at Duncan. "I'm sorry, we better get to work."
His eyes scanned her masked face before he held his arm out for her. "Allow me to escort you, darling?"
"Oh, good! He didn't realize it." She thought as she smiled behind her mask. She grabbed her purse and looped her arm with his. "With pleasure!"
Walking together down the hall, he grabbed her hand with his free hand. "Shall I get an answer tonight, my dear?"
Bianca lowered her head shyly. "Yes. I think dinner would be great Friday night, Duncan."
"Wonderful!" He nearly gushed in excitement. "I shall bring drinks and dessert."
She smiled and nodded, tightening her arm around his. "I look forward to it!"
They stopped outside her office.
Duncan faced her. "I wish you didn't have to wear a mask. It hides your beautiful face." He slowly pulled it from her face. "I know it's required but I want to look at you."
She blushed and looked away from him shyly. "Can I see you?" She asked in a whisper.
He smiled behind his mask. "Friday I shall let you see me." He touched her chin, raising her head. "When we get a chance to be alone."
Her cheeks flushed as a soft gasp escaped her lips. He was leaning towards her, the nose of his mask mere inches from hers. She looked up into his eyes.
"and I look forward to it." He finished in a whisper as he pulled his hand away slowly, his gloved fingers brushing her gently.
A breath escaped her lips as goosebumps littered her skin. The cotton of his glove was very soft and his touch was so sensual it ignited her senses.
He smiled. He could see the desires written all over her face. He lowered his hand and handed her the mask.
She took it from him, her heart thumping hard in her chest. "Thank you for walking with me, Duncan."
"My pleasure, darling!"
She looked away from him slightly as she bit her lower lip. Getting her nerves under control and gathering her courage, she looked back up at him and stood on her tiptoes as she leaned towards him. She touched the right cheek of his mask as she leaned in to kiss his left cheek, her eyes falling shut.
He turned his head slightly, fully facing her as he too leaned towards her.
Her lips pressed to the lips of his mask.
Her eyes snapped open as she looked up into his grey-blue eyes. She slowly pulled away, her lips remaining parted in surprise; her face nearly beet red.
He rightened himself. "Forgive me, darling. I could not resist the opportunity. Though, it would have been even better had I not had this mask on. I do hope your brother gives us a chance to be alone together."
"Me too!" She thought. She licked her lips before gently biting her lower lip. She could feel her body tremble slightly from both desire and nervousness.
He chuckled softly. "You look so beautiful when you do that." He whispered.
The sexual tension between them was so thick you could cut it with a knife!
She smiled shyly as she turned away from him, pulling her keys from her purse and unlocking the door to her office.
His hands were suddenly on her hips as he leaned toward her, his hot breath against her neck. "I know you want me." He whispered huskily, his hands slowly creeping up her sides. "I want you as well, Miss Bianca."
She released the keys, leaving them hanging in the lock as she stiffened and a heat rose from her collar. She couldn't describe the way his hands on her hips felt but it was an amazing feeling. Tingles engulfed her where he touched her. A soft breath escaped her lips as she slowly closed her eyes. She wanted nothing more then for him to pull her into his strong arms, to hold her tightly against his muscular body.
He suddenly spun her around, pressing her to the door. "I won't hide it anymore, my dear. The way you make me feel when you simply look at me with those beautiful eyes of yours, it is overwhelming at times." He leaned closer. "I desire you!" His voice lowered and deepened. "I want you, Bianca!"
She dropped her mask and purse, pressing her hands to his broad chest. "D-Duncan...."
He cocked his head provocatively. "What is it, darling?"
She looked down at his chest as her hands slowly glided across the soft fabric of his uniform. Beyond the soft fabric she could feel his hard, muscular chest. "Wow!" She thought. "He feels so nice!" She looked back into his eyes as she took a slow breath through her nose. His cologne smelled so good it nearly drove her senses wild.
He leaned even closer, her lips nearly brushed the lips of his mask as she raised her head. She subconsciously licked her lips, wanting so badly to kiss him. "Please don't tease me." She thought, feeling her heart nearly racing. "I have feelings for you." She whispered suddenly. "I desire you too!"
He tilted his head slightly, he could feel her heart thumping in her chest. It nearly shook her entire body, but he knew she was not afraid. "I know." He smiled. "I have feelings for you as well, darling."
"You..You do?!" She asked in a whisper.
"I do, my dear. I have had feelings for you for quite some time now."
Her hands moved across his pecs, caressing him gently. "I want.." She licked her lips again. "I want to kiss you, Duncan." She whispered, her eyes holding his.
"I want to do more then just kiss you, Bianca." He whispered huskily.
It was as if everything faded away and it was just them, lost in their forbidden thoughts.
"Everything all right, Bianca?" A male voice spoke suddenly.
They both looked to see Arthur; a concerned expression on his face.
"Yes, e..everything is fine." She replied as she pulled her hands from Duncan's chest at the same time he released her and took a step back.
Arthur neared them and picked up her mask and purse before handing them to her.
"I better get back to work. See you later, darling."
She smiled. "Bye, Duncan."
Once he was out of sight, Arthur looked over at her oddly. "What is going on, Bianca?"
"Nothing." She replied, quickly turning around and opening the door to her office.
Arthur followed her inside, closing the door behind him. "I would not call that nothing!"
She ignored him, moving to her desk and lowering her purse.
"You are on a first name basis with a Constable, my dear little sister."
Bianca smiled "Yes."
He looked at her oddly. "You're not..You're still not taking you're Joy are you?"
She took a glance away from him. "No, it's been almost two weeks since I last took it."
"Two weeks?! Bianca!!" He bellowed. "You were without Joy in the presence of a Constable?! And not just any Constable. It just so happens to be Constable Banister! Do you not understand his reputation?!"
"He does his job very well." She stated as she turned her back on him.
He grabbed her shoulders suddenly, making her face him. "Bloody hell, Bianca! Don't you understand?! He will kill you if you miss just one dose of Joy! He doesn't even hesitate!" He nearly hollered at her.
She pushed him away. "Then he kills me!" She hollered back. "What's the point of even living if I am forced to take a drug to make me happy?!"
"That doesn't matter! It's part of the rules, Bianca! God, what was I thinking when I asked him to join us for dinner Friday?! I should have known! Especially after the first time I noticed you hadn't take Joy. Maybe I should cancel it? We can reschedule when you are back on your Joy."
"Arthur, please don't cancel it! I want to have dinner with him! I.." She paused and looked away from him. "I'm in love with him." She whispered, keeping her head down.
He sighed before removing his mask, a slight smile appearing on his lips. "I had a feeling it was something like that, and I am absolutely certain it is quite mutual!" He grabbed her hand. "Bianca, please be careful with him! I can't lose you too!"
"I'm not scared of him, Arthur! I don't think he'd ever hurt me."
"Just promise me!"
"I will. I promise!"
He released her hand. "You know, I wouldn't be worried if you were still taking Joy. Getting tangled up with a Constable while off Joy is worse then running into a Doctor!"
She scoffed. "I doubt that! I'd rather die by Duncan's hands then face a Doctor!"
He sighed and rolled his eyes slightly. "Regardless, he is a fine man. I approve! Mum and Dad would have definitely approved!"
"Yes, I know!" She smiled before it faded and a soft sigh escaped her lips. "I miss them." She whispered. "I know they weren't my real parents but they raised me as if I was their own child."
"I miss them too, and Percy. Did it.. ever bother you? Knowing you were adopted?"
"No, not at all. Did you know they gave me the option to contact my real parents?"
"No, they never mentioned that. Did you?"
"I thought about it but decided against it. I didn't want to know them. They gave me up, Arthur. They obviously didn't want to know me."
"That's true, and it is their loss. You are greatly loved! You have grown up to be a beautiful and wonderful woman, Bianca. It's such a shame that your have to be hidden away in this world."
"Thank you!" She smiled deeply as she gave him a hug. "I am so glad I still have you in my life!"
He smiled and hugged her back. "I'm glad I still have you too! Please be careful with Constable Banister. I won't cancel the dinner."
She pulled away as he let her go. "I will be careful. We better get to work. I'll see you at lunch."
He nodded. "If you need anything, you know where I am."
She nodded.
He left her office, leaving the door open.
She went to her desk and took a seat, placing her mask back on. "Time to get this over with." She thought, a heavier sigh escaping her as she started up her Redactor machine. "I have another long and boring day ahead of me! How did I ever get so lucky to be here?!" She thought sarcastically as she rolled her eyes.
