Suyin only got the update from Jae-I in a text message.

[Jae-I]

》Parents' Night might be a disaster

And she couldn't agree more. Egotistical parents in one setting, looking to settle connections with many people through relentless talking about their networks or their children. Not her type of party.

All thoughts settled when she heard Jae-I's car exit the estate gates. Suyin and Ha had been standing outside and waiting on her to go to school together.

The car slowed down at Ha's wave and the window rolled down after he knocked on it, showing Jae-I's confused face.

"What are you doing?"

"We were waiting for you." Suyin smiled at her, phone in hand.

"How about we take you today?" Ha motioned to the two bikes they used as transport.

Then they took off. Ha on one bike, Suyin and Jae-I on another. Suyin would playfully shake the steering a bit to make it look like they were going to crash, causing Jae-I to hit her on her arm and switch to Ha.

"Let's stop." Ha stopped on the walkway mext to a food truck. "Grab a bite to eat." He looked at both of them.

The two girls sat together while waiting for Ha to come from the food truck with the 'delicacies'.

"Here." Ha gave one to each of them with a smile. "Trust me. This is gonna blow your mind. It's so good."

Jae-I placed her's down with a sigh, not even looking at it. "Don't like me."

Suyin looked up from the food she was chowing down on.

"What?" Both Ha and Suyin said in unison.

"I'm not really interested in you. So you shouldn't like me either."

Jae-I's declaration caused Ha to feel like everything was crumbling down the drain again, making him sigh.

"The time I spend with you is purely out of goodwill." Jae-I admitted. "I don't want to see one more person getting hurt. Not because of me."

It was silent still, Suyin feeling her apetite gone at the memories coming back.

{
"Oh my God....!"

Blood.

So much blood.

Is that [REDACTED]?

Oh no....

Are those sirens or am I just.....

Then everything went black.
}

"Everyone targeted by Ri-an eventually left." Jae-I claimed, making Ha look at Suyin. "Suyin was lucky because I stopped him at the right time." She went back on topic. "You're a target now. So if I don't save you, you'll be like the others. That's why I'm helping you. That's all there is."

Ha felt hurt. He thought a genuine friendship was forming between the three.

"So stick to your role and don't overplay your hand. Don't mostake...my goodwill as something else."

"No, I got it. I know what my role is." He nodded. "I won't overplay anything. But still, can I worry about you?"

"You worry?"

"Yeah, you seem vulnerable. Even now, you seem that way." Ha gazed at her. "Your expression is cold and indifferent. But your eyes tell me otherwise. You're lonely and afraid. Even with Suyin by your side."
