Kavya's POV
There was a park, full of trees. One could hear birds chirping, the sound of branches colliding, and a cold breeze resulting in leaves falling all over the place. The strange thing was, there was no one around. I stood there in the middle; there was a running track around the park, places to sit and enjoy, but it was all empty.
The clouds started to form together, and I heard a thunderclap which frightened me as it started raining. My clothes got wet, and both my feet were fixed in the grass. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I looked at my legs and tried to pull them, but it didn't help. When I looked up, my eyes widened. A lot of people started running towards the exit.
I was surprised; where did they come from? was the question in my mind. When I looked closely, I saw a giant Manchurian ball rolling in my direction, getting bigger and bigger. I tried to pull my legs, but I wasn't able to move. I screamed and tried my best to lift my legs from the grass. The ball came closer and closer, and just as it was about to crush me, I closed my eyes, placed my hands over them, and screamed, "Ahhhh."
When I opened my eyes, I was sitting on my mattress in the living room. I breathed heavily, sweat all over my body. Thank God it was just a dream. I placed my hand on my heart and looked upwards; I saw the fan, but it wasn't moving. I looked at the switch; it was on. I got up and looked outside through the balcony. It was dark, and there was a power cut everywhere. I came back and sat on the mattress again, trying to sleep but couldn't. I crossed my legs and sat on the mattress, looking at Aaryan. The question was, should I wake him up or not? I mean, look at him, he is sleeping like a baby.
It was getting hot without the fan. It seemed like I was done with sleep for the night until the electricity came back. I went to the bedroom; Rahul was almost snoring. It never affected him; he would definitely wake up in the morning. I came back and sat on the mattress again, resting my jaw on my hand and controlling myself not to wake Aaryan up. I tried sleeping again, but it was a failed attempt.
I scanned the whole room with my eyes, and when my eyes went back to him, I got startled and almost jumped. His eyes were open. "I didn't wake you up, did I?" I asked. "I heard a scream," he spoke in a heavy sleepy voice. He turned towards my side and closed his eyes, trying to sleep again.
I didn't want to disturb him, so I just went to the balcony. The sky was lit with moonlight; I could see a few stars making it even more beautiful. I placed my hands on the railing, and my mind went back to the day when we kissed here on his birthday. I took a deep breath and looked around. I felt peace at that moment, the cold breeze touching my skin made me feel refreshed.
"Electricity never runs out here," his voice brought me back to the moment. He came and stood beside me, yawning.
"Isn't it beautiful?" I spoke.
"What?" He chuckled. "This is literally just society," he said as he looked down.
"I know, but just look at the moon and stars," I pointed upwards.
His eyes followed my finger, and we saw a falling star.
"Make a wish!" I jumped, closing my eyes and holding my hands. I wished for us, that was the first thing that came to my mind. I was happy when I opened my eyes and looked at him; he opened his eyes as well.
"What did you wish for?" I couldn't wait to know, a bright smile on my face. I wrapped my hand around his as I asked.
"Isn't the wish supposed to be a secret? If it comes out, it never happens," he said, presenting the argument with curious eyes.
I just placed my head on his shoulder as we looked outside. He placed a quick peck on my forehead.
"I have nothing to wish for; I already have you," his words, not mine. It was sudden and took me a second to digest, coming from him-the guy who barely spoke to me a few weeks ago. I have to admit, things are changing, and I am liking it. I just hugged him as my mouth struggled to utter a word. I was overwhelmed with happiness.
"What was the scream about?" he asked in a concerned voice.
"I got crushed by a Manchurian ball," I laughed, resting my head on his chest.
"What?" he said, followed by a chuckle. "I thought they loved you."
"I thought so too. I guess it was just one-sided," I replied. We both laughed as the outdoors brightened with lights when the electricity came back. We got separated and settled on the mattresses.
"Good night," I said, placing a kiss on his cheek.
