Kavya's POV
I opened my eyes, my face buried in his chest, hands wrapped around his shoulders. My eyes widened as I realized our position in bed. Almost half the bed was empty, and I was glued to his body. His hand rested on my waist; I tried to move it, but the grip was so strong that I gave up.
"Aaryan!" I spoke, but not a single drop of dust moved. I tried pushing his shoulder a couple of times. "Are you planning to be late for your new job?" I asked, hoping he would wake up.
"Few more minutes," he said in a sleepy voice, and his grip got even stronger, pulling me closer to him. I was breathless for a few seconds; I really liked the comfort and wanted to cuddle with him all day.
I didn't know he was that strong; his biceps were mostly hidden under those shirts. It was so intimate that I couldn't help but give a peck on his cheek and admire him with his messy hair. His eyes moved a little. "Did I wake him up?" I asked myself.
I was right; his eyes opened a bit and widened pretty quickly. "What time is it?" he asked in a panic.
"It's ten in the morning already," I spoke. Even though I had been talking less with my mother these days, I always wanted to grab the opportunity to play a little prank, just like my mother used to do with me-saying the wrong time to wake someone up.
He pulled his hands away quickly. "What??"
I grabbed his top and pulled him closer, looking into his eyes with a cheeky smile. "Few more minutes? Don't you like my company?" I teased.
"I will have to find another company if I stay in bed any longer," he said, almost panicking.
"What?" My mouth went wide open, eyes curious.
"I mean, I will have to find another company where I work; I'm not talking about you." He struggled to put his words together, but I couldn't hold my laughter.
He looked at his phone and realized it was six in the morning. He almost jumped on me and started tickling me.
"Hey!" I screamed, managing the unexpected attack. I couldn't stop laughing to the point where my cheeks started to ache. Both of us settled in bed again after a few minutes, breathing heavily after the brutal tickle fight.
"Ahh, that was fun," he said as our eyes met, delving deeper as if searching for something. "How about I take you on a date tonight?" he asked. My eyes sparkled with excitement; how come I had never thought of that?
"Sure," I said, looking even deeper into his eyes.
"I enjoyed your company," he remarked, referring to the earlier joke. "Would you be willing to hire me in your heart department?" he whispered, and I was over the moon.
"Should we discuss the salary? It's a very important role," I played along with the joke.
"I would be willing to work for free," he laughed. "That's my dream job." I just couldn't stop blushing.
I was happy and had a reason to smile. Life is good; everything falls into place after all. It felt like I took a huge risk marrying a stranger, but it turned out to be on the brighter side for me. It could have gone worse, but I am not complaining.
It is a huge and scary gamble, and I'm glad I found a partner like him. I just really hope there aren't any secrets or dreadful past stories left.
I heard a sound and came back to reality.
"You okay?" he asked as he got out of bed and started folding the blanket.
"Yeah," I said with a smile.
"You seemed lost somewhere," he observed curiously.
"I was thinking about you." What?! My tongue betrayed me here. Since when was I speaking on autopilot? I asked myself.
"I hope it's only good things," he replied.
I nodded with a smile and left the bedroom. I placed a bowl on the gas to prepare tea. Once the tea was ready, I went to the same window.
"Ah! It's been a few days," I whispered as I looked outside and enjoyed the first sip of tea. The fresh morning wind made my hair twirl a little. It's funny how time changes everything. Here I was, standing in the same place where I used to feel lonely, and now I felt loved.
