(Third person pov)

The Larks' show was now over. Kingsley is clapping and laughing altogether, they always enjoy performing and entertaining little kids.

"Another wonderful show today, woohoo!" Kingsley cheered. Perrine smiled and tooks of their mask, "Good performance as always, good job everyone." The four of them settled for a while at the backstage before going back to their place. Outside was slowly getting dark, moon nearly showing. The Lark chatted all the way to their place, talking about their performance earlier. Cole silently listen to them with a small smile on their face. He doesn't really say much, but does leave small response and comments every now and then.

They finally got to their place. Perrine went to her respective room, saying that they want to rest for a little while. Kingsley and Clemmie have decided to go on a small walk in the village.

"Do you wanna come with us, Cole?" Kingsley asked
"Oh, um.. I'll just stay, you guys go have fun though." Cole said, adjusting the sling of his instrument.
"Okay then. Come on clemmie, let's go!" Kingsley called for clemmie, who was fixing themselves in the mirror. "Coming." Kingsley went outside first, waiting for Clementine.

When clemmie was done fixing herself, they went to Cole before leaving. "We'll be going out for a while. See you later, okay?" Clemmie says as she went closer to them. "Yeah, see you-" Cole was interrupted when a pair of hands moved their rabbit mask slightly just to reveal his eyes, and soft lips touched theirs. Cole was surprised by the sudden action but didn't push clemmie away either. Finally, when Clementine broke the kiss, she smiled and said, "Nice performance today, too." in a small whisper. Eventually, Kingsley was getting a bit impatient.

"Clemmie!?"

"Coming!" Clementine went to the door but before she leaves, they waved at Cole and smiled warmly at them. Meanwhile, Cole was still surprised about what just happened. He could feel his face heating up and a strange feeling in his stomach. They decided to go outside for fresh air and to calm down. That night, Cole couldn't sleep. The scene where clemmie kissed their lips keeps on repeating in his mind. Cole turned his body to the right, trying to shake it off his mind and sleep.

....

A couple of days has now passed, and every each day, clemmie's always sticking to Cole's side wherever they go. Cole doesn't mind though, since he likes spending time with clemmie. It's just that, Clementine was being more affectionate than usual and Cole didn't know what to feel. They don't blame Clementine. No no, of course not. He's just need to understand their feelings, that's all.

One day, Cole finally decided to sort his feelings out. But he needs someone to keep Clementine busy or distracted. Just then, Kingsley entered the room and Cole went over to them.

....

"Look Cole, I know you don't have a job.. But I don't work for free. You give me five crickets and I'll distract Clementine for you." Kingsley grinned, expecting to receive crickets from them.

"I- I don't have crickets, Kingsley." Cole admitted. Kingsley's grin dropped at that.

"Hm, sorry babygirl, but business is business." Cole let out a disappointed groan. Kingsley was walking away to leave, but Cole spoke before they did. "I'll give you my remaining cookies?" Kingsley stopped in his tracks and slowly looks at Cole with a mischievous grin. "Hmm.. Fine, I'll do it." Kingsley shrugged and Cole sighed in relief. "But you better tell me the reason why I'm doing this, Cole." And before Cole could answer, Kingsley shut the door.

....

They sat on the nice green grass, their back against an oak tree. Cole was having a hard time figuring out the overwhelming feelings he had. He absent-mindedly plucked the strings of his guitalele as he stared on a Primrose flower that somehow reminded them of Clementine.

Eventually, thoughts weren't enough and decided to compose their feelings into a song. It didn't took Cole long enough to finally have a short song about what he feels about Clementine's affection.

....

Cole was feelings anxious. Kingsley distracted Clementine for a day, he gets their remaining cookies, and clemmie's probably going back to sticking around with him. Cole's contemplating whether or not to bring it up to Clementine. His thoughts were interrupted when Clemmie shows up from behind, startling Cole.

"Hi Cole!"

"Gah! C-Clemmie, hi. You scared me."
Clemmie laughed and sat beside them.
"Sorry, my bad."
The two sat in a comfortable silence. It was a beautiful sunny day and they could hear birds chirping around them. Cole then made up his mind and spoke.

"Clemmie."
"Yes, Cole?"
"I.. " Cole trails off for a brief moment before finishing his sentence, "I've got to tell you something." Clemmie looks at Cole and encourage them with a smile.
"Go on."

Before saying it, Cole took a deep breath and released it. "So, um.. I don't really know where to start." Cole let out a nervous chuckle which, obviously, Clementine noticed. "Hey, it's alright. Take your time." Clemmie comforted with her soothing sweet voice. Few minutes later, Cole finally found the courage to say it.

"Clementine, I don't blame you about this but, you've been showing me your affection more lately.. I'm not saying that you should stop doing it though..!" Cole quickly added the second part. This isn't about Clementine, it is rather about what Cole felt. "I can't quite decipher my feelings but, it's getting overwhelming and I somehow need to do something about it. So... Could you please listen to this sone I made?" Clemmie listened to every word that Cole said and didn't expect to hear that instead of explaining it directly, Cole made a song out of it. If that isn't surprising, but still. Clemmie smiled, knowing that Cole really did put effort into understanding his feelings and telling them about it.

Cole sighed a deep breath before strumming the strings of his guitalele. Finally, after some couple of strums, he sings the lyrics.

It starts off slow, though you can't keep up
Feel your feet sink to the ground
It wants you here and it won't let go
Pull you deeper and deeper until you can't be found
Where do I want to be? Either way you'll be there, with me!
I don't think that i could see
Oh! The seeds are growing inside they want to be free...
If i crawl out, it leaves you hollow
I carry nothing but the breath i burrow
Let it hurt, it won't end until you say it should
Pluck my eyes, cut my hair, break my teeth until it's fair
Let it bleed, let it dry, let it be!
It won't get easier, if that's what I think...
Slow as the ground rumble beneath the leathers
Tearing what it could cling to scatter
Scatter... They..
They do

When Cole sang, he didn't feel any nervousness. Instead, it calmed him down and knowing that Clementine was listening to them sing with such understanding and adoration in her eyes eased them. Cole let out a small chuckle after he sang the last part and briefly looked at clemmie before ending the song.

"So.. What do you think? " Cole asked
"You know that i will always accept you no matter what, right?"
Cole remained silent, letting Clementine finish on what they're going to say.
"You're allowed to feel that way, Cole. Just like the lyrics that you made, " let it be! ". And you don't have to worry, I completely understand you."
Clementine slowly reached out and held Cole's hand. Cole interlocked their fingers and gave it a light squeeze.

"Thanks, Clemmie." Cole smiled softly.
"Don't thank me, dummy. You'll always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for letting me know about what you feel." With that, Clementine placed a small peck on Cole's cheek. She let out a laugh as Cole's face turned slightly red.
