One night while I was patrolling Metropolis, I had that strange feeling of being watched. It wasn’t a fleeting sensation either; whoever it was had been tailing me for hours. Determined to find out who it was, I decided to play a little game. Using my super speed, I vanished from their sight and reappeared behind them in the blink of an eye.
I caught them by the neck, holding tight enough to nearly suffocate them. To my surprise, it was Robin—more accurately, Damian Wayne. His fierce eyes glared at me, and before I could say anything, he swung a kryptonite blade at my arm. To his surprise, it didn’t have any effect on me.
“Nice try,” I muttered, tightening my grip just enough to remind him who was in control.
Damian’s expression shifted from surprise to calculated determination. He called for help, and within moments, a group of familiar faces appeared: Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, and Raven. The Titans had arrived, but I didn’t let go of Damian. Despite not having any powers himself, I knew he was the most dangerous one here due to his skills and cunning.
“Let him go,” Cyborg demanded, his arm transforming into a powerful cannon.
“I don’t think so,” I replied calmly. “He’s been following me for hours. I want to know why.”
Starfire stepped forward, her eyes glowing with energy. “We can explain, but you need to release him first.”
I glanced at Damian, who was still struggling in my grip. His eyes told me he wasn’t afraid, just annoyed. “Explain first,” I said, “then I’ll let him go.”
Raven floated a few feet above the ground, her voice calm and soothing. “We’re not here to fight you. We’re here because we need your help.”
“Help?” I echoed, loosening my grip just a fraction. “With what?”
Beast Boy morphed into his human form, stepping forward cautiously. “We’ve been tracking an energy signature that’s been causing disruptions across the city. It led us to you.”
I frowned, still holding Damian but slightly less tightly. “What kind of energy signature?”
Blue Beetle’s armor lit up as he spoke. “It’s similar to Kryptonian energy but... different. We think it might be related to how you got your powers.”
I released Damian, who immediately stepped back, rubbing his neck and glaring at me. “You could’ve just asked,” he snapped.
“Didn’t seem like you were in a talking mood,” I replied, still wary of the group.
Starfire approached cautiously, her glowing eyes dimming slightly. “We’re not your enemies. We want to understand what’s happening and how we can help. Superman trusts you, and that means something to us.”
I took a deep breath, processing what they were saying. “Okay. Let’s say I believe you. What do you need from me?”
Cyborg’s cannon arm transformed back into a regular arm. “We need to track the source of this energy, and since it’s connected to you, you’re our best chance.”
Raven nodded, her dark eyes meeting mine. “We’re stronger together. Will you join us?”
I considered their offer. The Titans were some of the best heroes out there, and if they needed my help, it was probably for a good reason. “Alright,” I said finally. “I’ll help. But no more sneaking around.”
Damian smirked, clearly unimpressed. “We’ll see about that.”
I couldn’t help but smile a little. “Lead the way,” I said, motioning for them to take the lead.
