As night fell over Metropolis, the city lights sparkled below us, casting long shadows that danced with the rhythm of the bustling streets. I glanced over at Superman and Wonder Woman, who seemed to be deep in conversation, their body language relaxed and open. It was good to see him like this, more human, more connected.

Kara nudged me playfully. "You're quite the matchmaker, aren't you?"

I laughed. "Just trying to help out. Everyone deserves a bit of happiness."

Volcana smirked, her fiery eyes twinkling with amusement. "And what about you, Cornelius? Any special someone in your life?"

I shrugged, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Not really. I’ve been kind of focused on, you know, saving the world and all."

Kara giggled. "Well, there's always time for that too. You just need to balance things out."

Just as I was about to respond, my phone buzzed. It was the chief of the Metropolis Police Department. I answered it quickly. "Yes, Chief?"

"Boundless, we have a situation downtown. Some heavy hitters are causing a ruckus. We could really use your help."

"I’m on it," I said, ending the call and looking at the others. "Duty calls."

Superman and Wonder Woman immediately perked up, their conversation pausing. "What’s the situation?" Superman asked.

"Trouble downtown. Sounds serious," I replied, already moving towards the edge of the rooftop.

Wonder Woman nodded. "Let’s go."

We all took to the sky, flying swiftly towards the commotion. As we approached, I could see the chaos below. Buildings were damaged, cars overturned, and people were running in all directions. In the midst of it all stood two familiar figures: Metallo and Parasite.

"Not these guys again," I muttered, clenching my fists.

Superman gave me a reassuring look. "We’ve got this. Just remember what we’ve trained for."

We descended into the fray, landing with enough force to crack the pavement. Metallo turned to us, his green kryptonite heart glowing ominously. "Superman. And friends. How delightful."

Parasite grinned, his pink skin glowing as he absorbed energy from a fallen electrical pole. "Looks like the party just got started."

Superman charged at Metallo, their clash sending shockwaves through the street. Wonder Woman engaged Parasite, her lasso flashing as she tried to keep him at bay. Kara and Volcana backed them up, their combined powers creating a formidable defense.

I took a deep breath, focusing on Metallo. The kryptonite didn’t affect me like it did Superman, but I knew I had to be careful. I flew in, landing a solid punch on Metallo’s jaw, sending him stumbling back.

"You’ve got some nerve, kid," Metallo growled, recovering quickly and swinging a heavy fist at me.

I dodged, using my super speed to land several rapid punches. "You’re not the only one with power around here."

Metallo snarled, but before he could retaliate, Superman was there, delivering a powerful blow that sent Metallo crashing into a nearby building.

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman had managed to entangle Parasite in her lasso, but he was proving difficult to contain. "He’s draining too much energy!" she shouted, struggling to hold him.

Kara flew in, her eyes blazing with determination. "We need to cut off his power source!"

I nodded, using my super speed to locate the electrical pole Parasite had been feeding from. With a swift motion, I severed the connection, cutting off his energy supply. Parasite howled in frustration, his strength diminishing rapidly.
