After seeing the helicopter bombing the city we went inside the car and Shane told Ed  that followed us.

-46 minutes later-

Finally, we arrived at a quarry, where a small group of survivors were huddled together that already had that idea.

Carl's eyes lit up as he saw the kids, and he ran to me saying there were kids here and throwing his arms around my waist.

My heart swelled with love and gratitude as I hugged my son tightly. I looked up at Shane, who was watching us with a soft expression.

"Thank you," I whispered, my voice barely audible. Shane nodded, his eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination.

"We'll get through this, aurora Together."

As we settled into the quarry, i couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I knew that Shane was trying to help, but i couldn't shake off the feeling that he was hiding something from me.

Little did i know, our journey was just beginning, and the road ahead would be filled with danger, heartbreak, and unexpected twists.

-Next day-

As the days passed, I struggled to come to terms with the loss of Rick. I went through the motions, helping with tasks.

the laundry and taking care of Carl, but my heart felt heavy with grief. I'm missing Rick like crazy.

Shane tried to be supportive, but i couldn't help but feel like he was trying to replace Rick in mine and Carl's life.

He was always there, helping me, and offering comfort. It was like he was waiting for me to break down so he could pick up the pieces.

One day, Carl was playing with the other kids and Sophia. Shane approached me as i was counting how much food we had left.

"Hey, you okay?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern, I sighed, feeling a lump form in my throat.

"I'm fine, Shane  just trying to survive." I said while finally looking at him. Shane nodded, his face understanding.

"I know it's hard, but we'll get through this together. We're a team, Aurora."

I forced a smile and looked back at how I was feeling a pang of guilt. Shane was trying to help, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that he was trying to control me.

As the sun began to set, i excused myself and walked to the edge of the quarry, looking out at the desolate landscape. I felt lost and alone, like I was wandering in a wilderness without a map.

Suddenly, i heard a rustling in the bushes behind me. I spun around, my heart racing, and that's when I saw it - a walker, its eyes fixed on me, its mouth open in a snarl.

My heart froze as the walker began to move towards me, its arms outstretched. I  knew I had to act fast, but my legs felt like lead.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a shot rang out, and the walker collapsed to the ground. I quickly turned to see Shane standing behind me, his gun still smoking.

"Thanks," I whispered, my voice shaking. Shane nodded, his eyes filled with a mix of concern and something else - something that looked almost like possession.

My heart skipped a beat as I realized that I  was trapped in the quarry with a man who was becoming increasingly controlling and obsessive and I had no idea how to escape.

My heart raced as Shane approached me, his eyes fixed on mine.

"You okay?" he asked, his voice low and husky,I nodded, trying to hide my fear.

"Yeah, thanks to you." Shane smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"Anytime, aurora You're safe with me."He said I felt a shiver run down my spine as Shane's gaze lingered on mine. I knew i had to get away from him, but my legs felt like lead.

Suddenly, Carl's voice pierced the air. "Mom! Mom, what's going on? I heard a gunshot?"

My heart leapt with relief as Carl ran towards me, his eyes wide with concern. Shane's gaze flickered to Carl, and for a moment, and I thought i saw a flash of annoyance in his eyes. But then, his face relaxed into a smile.

"Hey, buddy Everything's okay Your mom's safe." Carl looked at him then looked up at me, his eyes searching.

"You sure you're ok Mom?" I forced a smile, trying to reassure him.

"Yeah, sweetie I'm fine Let's get back to the others, okay?" I said

As we walked back to the quarry, i couldn't shake off the feeling that Shane was looking at me.

Waiting for his moment to strike. But I knew I had to be careful he had been acting weird since Rick got shot.

But I haven't been thinking anything about, I have to watch I didn't know how to protect myself and Carl from the man who was supposed to be our protector.

And then, just as they were settling down for the night, I heard a faint noise in the distance. It sounded like footsteps, heavy and deliberate.

My heart began to race as i realized that someone - or something - was coming towards the quarry. And I had no idea what they wanted.
