- Next Morning -
As I woke up the next morning, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. I had told Rick about Shane's behavior, but I still hadn't revealed the whole truth. The secret I kept felt like a weight on my chest, and I knew I had to find a way to share it with Rick.
After breakfast, I saw Rick walking towards the woods, his rifle slung over his shoulder. I knew he was going on a hunt, and I decided to follow him.
"Rick, wait up!" I called out, jogging to catch up with him.
He turned around, a questioning look on his face. "What's up, rora?"
I took a deep breath, my heart racing.
"I need to tell you something. Something I should have told you yesterday."
Rick's expression turned serious. "What is it?"
I hesitated, unsure of how to reveal the truth. But I knew I had to be honest.
"It's about Shane... and me."
Rick's eyes narrowed.
"What about you and Shane?"
I closed my eyes, the words spilling out of me like a confession.
"When we thought he was dead... I... Me and him had sex only one time, I didn't mean to And I told him that it was over but he won't leave me alone, And now he still thinks we're still together"
Rick's face went blank, and for a moment, I thought he was angry. But then, his expression softened.
"Rora, why didn't you tell me?" Rick asked, his voice calm and understanding. I shook my head, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
"I was scared. I didn't know how you'd react."
Rick sighed, his shoulders sagging. "We'll get through this, rora. Together. But I need some time to process this and figure out what to do about Shane."
I nodded, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety.
"Okay, Rick. I understand"
Rick's expression turned determined. "I'll take care of it, rora. I promise. Just give me some time."
I nodded again, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Rick. I knew he would do what was best for our group, and for me.
As we walked back to camp, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next. Would Rick confront Shane? Would our group be able to move past this? I didn't have the answers, but I knew one thing - I had to trust Rick and let him handle it.
"I'm sorry Rick," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.Rick turned to me, his eyes softening. He nodded his head and walk off.
- Later That Day -
Later that day, I decided to take a walk in the woods, needing some time to clear my head. As I walked, I stumbled upon a small clearing and in the center of it, I saw Rick and Shane talking. They looked serious, and I could tell they were discussing something important.
I watched from a distance, not wanting to interrupt. But as I listened, I realized they were talking about me. Rick was telling Shane to stay away from me, and Shane was arguing that he couldn't help how he felt.
I felt a mix of emotions: fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. What was going to happen next? Would Shane listen to Rick, or would he continue to pursue me?
As I stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Rick looked up and saw me. He excused himself from Shane and walked towards me.
"Aurora, what are you doing here?" he asked, his expression concerned. I shook my head, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
"I don't know, Rick. I just wanted a walk."
Rick nodded understandingly. "Let's get back to camp."
I nodded my head and we walked back to camp in silence. When we got to camp I walked to the tent and got our dirty clothes and took them down to the quarry to wash them.
After a while I was putting them on the line when I saw Shane walking towards me, a mixture of emotions on his face. I felt a sense of unease, wondering what he wanted.
"Hey, Aurora," he said, his voice was low and hesitant.
"Can we talk?"
I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation. What did he want to say?
"I know you told Rick about what happened," Shane said, his eyes scanning the surrounding area nervously.
"I just wanted to explain myself."
I raised an eyebrow, curious.
"What's there to explain?"
Shane took a deep breath.
"I know I acted strangely, but I couldn't help how I felt. And when I thought that Rick was dead... I realized my feelings for you went beyond friendship."
I shook my head, feeling a sense of finality.
"Shane, I've already made up my mind. I don't feel the same way about you, and I want you to leave me alone."
Shane's face fell, and he looked crestfallen.
"But... but I thought we had something real," he stammered.
I stood firm, trying to be kind but clear.
"I'm sorry, Shane. I really am. But I need you to respect my boundaries and give me space."
Shane nodded slowly, looking defeated.
"Okay... I'll leave you alone."
I watched as he walked away, feeling a sense of relief washed over me. I was glad that was over.
Rick appeared beside me, his eyes scanning the area to make sure Shane was gone.
"You okay, rora?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him.
"Yeah, I'm ok"
Rick just nodded his head and told me he taking Carl fishing.
