Chapter 15

Three-year-old little Miracle's face brightened in an instant and a big, happy smile appeared on her face as soon as she saw her sixteen-years-old eldest brother coming home from school.

It already became a routine for the small toddler to wait near the front doors at this hour because she knows that her brothers are going to come home. She was always happy and excited knowing that she's the one who gets to greet her big brothers first. Little did she know how much her brothers hated seeing her first thing when they got home, but they wouldn't do or say anything about it out of fear of their father, so they would just ignore her.

The toddler knows she's being ignored, but she was still so determined to greet her brothers and get them to hug her back, even just once.

She didn't quite understand why her brothers didn't like her hugs. Her daddy loves her hugs, he told her that her special hug is like magic that cures all his ouchies and boo-boos.

Her world is so small, her need for connection is so profound.

Little Miracle's chubby, tiny hands, reached out for her big brother, a beacon of hope forming in a world that seemed to be ignoring her. Her blue eyes, wide and pleading, mirroring the desperation in her heart. Her voice, small and sweet, calling out, "Damie, hug!"

The words, simple and innocent, held a weight that belied their conciseness. They spoke of a longing for comfort, for reassurance, for the simple act of being seen and acknowledged by her big brother. But Damion, caught in the whirlwind of his own hatred and emotions, remained oblivious and blinded. He was engrossed in his phone, his headphones blasting music, his world a fortress of indifference, he completely ignored his little sister as he walked away.

Little Miracle was once again left disappointed, confused, and rejected. She always wondered why Damie and the twins are so cold and unwelcoming when it comes to her, they aren't like that with Corbin. Her small heart, once filled with the joy of her brother's presence, now aches with a pain she couldn't understand.

-Gabriel Di Luca-

"All her life all that little girl ever wanted from me was a hug. It's all she's been asking me since she learned how to talk."

I could only describe the powerful and intimidating automotive CEO, Damion Astor, with one word by looking at him right now. Broken.

"And you never gave it to her?" It was more of a statement than a question.

"I... I couldn't bring myself to." He admitted.

He couldn't bring himself to hug his own sister?

Their family is surely shrouded in mystery that's for sure. They might look like the perfect, happy family and siblings out in the public at every events and fucking red carpets that everyone envies, but here right now is the glaring truth behind all of that facade.  That sounds about right.

No family and siblings is that perfect.

"Why?" I was holding back from releasing my anger again and instead focused on the road since I'm the one driving.

My heart continued to break as I continued to learn more about that sweet and beautiful girl.

My Miracle doesn't deserve this kind of family. She deserves a family who takes care of her, who treasures her, who loves her, and who would do everything for her.
