Chapter 14

ASHLEY'S POV
I wake up and call for the doctor. He unplugs me from everything and I rush to Elizabeth's room. She's laying there asleep. I run to her side and start crying.

"I'm sorry Liz. I'm so so sorry!" I say and lay my head on her wrist. I feel someone's hand touch my head. I lean up. It's Elizabeth's mom.

"Ash, what exactly happened?" She asks.

I just shake my head and start crying harder.

Elizabeth starts waking up. She's having a nightmare.

"Liz, I'm here! I'm right here." I say.

She wakes up screaming!

"Get away from me. I hate you!" She yells.

I wake her up and she looks at me. She freezes.

"Ashely, why are you here? You.. You-" I cut her off.

I look up at Liz's mom. "Can I have a minute alone?" I ask.

She walks out the door.

"What's the last thing you remember?" I ask.

"I remember hugging you and then arriving to the hospital." She says. "Where's Josh?!"

"I haven't checked on him. Do you want me to?" I ask.

She nods her head.

I walk down to Josh's room. He's bruised and his skin is so pale. He looks dead.

This is all my fault. I walk over to him.

"Josh, it's me, Ashley, I know you probably can't hear me, but I want to apologize. I shouldn't have ever done that to you. You deserve everything. You and Liz deserve a perfect life. I was so jealous because she was spending more time with you than me. Please, please, please forgive me. I love you and Liz both." A tear drops onto his hand. His wrist flinches. Can he hear me? Did he hear what I said?

I walk back to Liz's room and tell her he's beat up pretty bad.

"Bring me a doctor!" She says.

ELIZABETH'S POV
I awake in the hospital worrying about Josh. My heart monitor starts beating really fast. My doctor and 3 nurses run in my room and start freaking out.

"Mrs. King, we need you to calm down please. Everything's all right. Do you know where you are?" One of the nurses asks me.

"Yeah, where's Josh." I ask.

"He still hasn't woke up yet." She says.

"Can I see him? I want to see him today!" I say.

"Well, yes, but he's not awake, I'm sorry dear, but you can't see him." The other nurses say.

"Fine, then can I have time alone?" I ask.

All of the nurses leave except the doctor. He checks my temperature and gives me a shot and leaves.

So, now, it's just me and my thoughts. Somehow, I was going to find a way to see Josh. Even if I had to sneak out of this room.

I take a peak out of the window, and see two nurses sitting outside.

I hit the nurse button on the side of my bed and one of them comes in here.

"How can I help you?" She says.

"Close the blinds and come here, please?" I say.

She does as I said and then walks to me, I tell her that she was going to let me see Josh the easy way or the hard way. She then immediately begins undoing my wires and everything that connects me to this stupid machine.

"You have about 7 minutes before the other nurses realize you're gone. Be back here at 6 and a half minutes so I can begin hooking you up again and by the time they get in here, it'll be as you never left."

I smile and she shows me a hidden door. I walk through it, it's like a little office.

"Here put this on, it's the only way you'll make it into his room." She takes off her nurse outfit and we swap clothes.

I'm walking to Josh's room and a doctor stops me.

"Aha, mrs. Allison, where might you be going?" He asks.

"Just to check on Patient Josh." I say trying to sound like Allison.

"But that's not your area, are you feeling alright?" He asks looking like he's found a cute little puppy.

"I know, but one of the other nurses asked me to go check on him while she went to make us some coffee." I say

"Okay carry on." He says.

I start running to his room. That shenanigan took two minutes away from me and josh.

I reach his room and stop in the door way. My face is frozen in shock.

"Oh my gods, Josh??" I run to him and immediately start crying.

"I'm so sorry. I love you, Josh! I promise you'll be okay. This is all my fault!" I say

His finger slightly moves. I look at his sleepy face and kiss is forehead. He's all banged up and has gauze wrapped all the way around his stomach. His face is bruised, it looks like someone beat him and he didn't fight back. I slightly grab his hand, and then I see cuts like he tried punching someone but missed.

I hear the nurse calling my name.

I start walking back to my room, and when I get there, we swap clothes and she hooks me up to the machines again.

As soon as she finishes, another nurse walks in, everything alright in here. Why are the blinds closed?" She asks.

"She wanted some privacy, and needed some advice about her boyfriend!" Allison says then looks at me!

"Alright, well, come on Alli, the doctor needs to see you."

"Okay, give me a second!" Allison says.

The other nurse walks out.

"I told the doctor you were going to check up on Josh. Well, I was going to check up on Josh. He said okay but just in case, I thought k should tell you." I say.

"Okay, thanks!" She says and leaves.

I feel so bad what Josh is going through. I'm just going to take a nap.
