Chapter Two

Izuku awoke with a start, his eyes slowly adjusting to the dim lighting of the room.

He sat up and stretched, his body aching from once again sleeping on the cold, hard floor.

Izuku made his way around the small room, eager to complete his morning chores quickly so he could spend the rest of the day doing whatever he wanted.

He pulled open the curtains, allowing the sun to light up the room as he put on a tattered coat and a pair of shoes over his clothes, grabbing a basket on his way out the door.

Izuku bent over, picking up the apples that had fallen from the many apple trees surrounding the manor, inspecting them carefully. He placed the good ones in the basket and discarded the rest.

The land was quiet, Izuku being the only one outside. The other workers were likely cleaning the interior of the manor or cooking the food for the "noble" family who they worked for, though there was really nothing noble about them.

Izuku's father had died when Izuku was only a couple months old, leaving his mother to care for him. In a time when women couldn't do much, Inko had been forced to remarry in order to support herself and a growing Izuku.

She met Aku Midoriya when Izuku was six and the two quickly married. Aku had two children, around Izuku's age, from a previous marriage, Akumu and Akari.

Things had been wonderful in the beginning. Izuku got a long nicely with Akari, though Akumu wasn't too fond of him.

It all changed when Inko fell ill, quickly passing, leaving Izuku in the care of Aku who turned cold and violent.

Akumu joined her father in his new found hatred for Izuku, choosing to spend her time torturing him in any way she could manage.

Izuku had been forced to work as a servant, waiting on his former family hand and foot, with barely any breaks.

He was forced to sleep in the cellar on the ground and was lucky to be given even one meal a day. He had a long list of chores that had to be done each and every day. Failure to comply with demands led to harsh beatings that left scars and bruises on his skin.

Through it all however, Izuku had decided he wasn't going to allow anyone to break his spirit. He remained positive, making the best out of his situation.

Izuku snapped out of his thoughts and hurriedly picked up apples, not wanting to waste anymore time dwelling on the past.

Once he was satisfied with the amount of apples he'd collected, Izuku walked out of the woods and back up the steps towards the large manor.

His free hand reached for the door but stalled when he heard the sound of a horse galloping nearby, followed by a string of curses.

Turning around quickly, Izuku noticed a hooded figure riding a horse, going down the rocky path from the direction of the stables.

Upon further inspection, Izuku noticed the familiar markings on the horse, recognizing it to be one of the manors.

"Shit," Izuku cursed and before he could think, he grabbed the apples from the basket and began throwing them at the thief, knocking the person off the horse.

Izuku approached the thief, who's hood had fallen off when he had tumbled from the horse, revealing a tall blond haired man.

The moment their eyes met, Izuku paled, realizing the man he had just thrown apples at was none other than prince Katsuki.

T.B.C

That chapter was definitely shorter than I had hoped, despite me going back through and adding a bunch of stuff...

Anyways, how are we feeling so far? I feel like Izuku's little backstory could've been woven into the story a little better but I didn't know how so, if anyone has any ideas, feel free to comment them...
