"Niki," Jay said as they lounged in his living room, the soft hum of music filling the background.

"What is it, Jay Hyung?" Niki replied, looking up from his phone.

"I saw you blushing over Sunoo today."

Niki's eyes widened, and he immediately went on the defensive. "Nuh-uh, you're insane. That never happened."

Jay smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Lying now, little kid. How rude."

"Nuh-uh, old man. You're just delusional."

Once again, the weekend had come, marking three weeks since Sunoo and Niki had started their project, with only one more week until the showcase. This time, instead of going to Niki's house, they went to Sunoo's.

"Why did we come to my house this week, Nishimura?" Sunoo asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, my dad is back and he doesn't like guests," Niki said, avoiding eye contact.

Sunoo couldn't help but feel skeptical. It was obvious Niki was lying. "Oh, okay. Anyway, let's practice for a bit and then go to the park."

"Okay," Niki agreed.

They began practicing with their new choreography, the tension between them rising with each repetition. Their hearts pounded harder each time their faces got close.

They were running the routine for the tenth time when Sunoo looked directly into Niki's eyes. Niki had already been looking back. The two just stood there, frozen, staring into each other's eyes, neither knowing what to do next.

"Sunoo hyung, I'm sorry," Niki finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Sorry for what?" Sunoo asked, confusion and curiosity mingling in his eyes.

Niki hesitated, his voice wavering. "For being a bitch and leaving you. For hurting you," he said, the last part barely above a whisper, but with how close they were, Sunoo heard every word.

"Why are you apologizing now?" Sunoo pressed, his heart aching with a mix of old wounds and new hope.

"Because I didn't want to do it, but I was selfish and chose myself over our friendship. And in doing so, I hurt you," Niki admitted, his voice filled with regret.

"Why, Riki? Why did you do it?" Sunoo's voice cracked, the pain from their past resurfacing.Niki took a deep breath, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.

"I wanted to keep being friends, but my dad forced me to stop. When he found out you were gay, he told me to stop being friends with you or he'd move us back to Japan. I didn't want to go back, so I did what I was told. I got a new set of friends, but it turned out my dad paid them all to be my friends, except for Jay. Hyung, I'm so, so sorry. I understand if you don't want to accept my apology."

Sunoo's heart clenched at Niki's words. He could see the sincerity and pain in Niki's eyes. "You should have told me, Riki. I would have understood. We could have figured something out together."

"I know," Niki said, his voice breaking. "But I was scared. I was a coward. I thought it was the only way to protect myself and my family. I didn't realize how much it would hurt you. How much it would hurt us."

Sunoo's anger began to dissipate, replaced by a deep sadness and empathy. "It hurt a lot, Niki. Losing you was one of the hardest things I've ever been through. But I get it now. You were in an impossible situation."

Niki looked down, unable to meet Sunoo's gaze. "I've regretted it every day since. Every time I saw you, I wanted to reach out, to explain. But I didn't have the courage."

Sunoo reached out, lifting Niki's chin so their eyes met. "It took a lot of courage to tell me now. And I appreciate it. But this doesn't fix everything, Riki. Trust has to be rebuilt."

Niki nodded, tears spilling over. "I know. And I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. Just please, give me a chance."

Sunoo sighed, his own emotions were a storm. "I'm willing to try, Niki. But it will take time. We can't just go back to the way things were."

"I understand," Niki said, relief washing over him. "Thank you, Sunoo. I won't let you down again."

Sunoo managed a small smile. "Let's take it one step at a time. We'll see where this goes."Niki nodded, a tentative hope blooming in his chest. "One step at a time."

They resumed their practice, the earlier tension replaced by a fragile understanding. Each movement carried a weight of unspoken promises, a testament to their resolve to mend what had been broken. As they danced, the rhythm of their hearts synchronized, a silent vow to face the future together, no matter how uncertain it might be.

After practice, they went to the park as planned. The evening air was cool and refreshing, the park bathed in the soft glow of twilight. They walked side by side, their silence filled with unspoken words and newfound hope.

"Thank you for giving me a chance," Niki said quietly as they sat on the park bench, watching the sunset.

Sunoo turned to him, a gentle smile on his lips. "Everyone deserves a second chance, Riki. Just don't waste it."

"I won't," Niki promised, his voice firm with determination.
