The next day at school, the students gathered once again in their performing arts class with Mr. Bahng.
"Okay, students," he began, "today I'll be announcing the duo that gets to perform at the Korean High School Showcase."
Tensions rose as everyone hoped it would be them. The room was filled with nervous anticipation.
"The duo that gets to perform is... Sunoo and Niki! Good job, you two. The showcase is in one month, so keep preparing."
Sunoo and Niki exchanged excited glances and high-fived each other, while the rest of the class clapped and cheered.
"I told you we would do good," Sunoo said, beaming.
"Yeah, you're right," Niki responded, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"Good job, you twooo!" Jungwon called out, approaching them with a wide grin.
"Thanks, Jungwon," Sunoo replied, pulling him into a quick hug.
"You guys were amazing out there," Jay continued. "All that hard work really paid off."
The rest of their friends gathered around, showering them with praise and congratulations. The excitement was palpable, and the sense of accomplishment filled the air. They knew this was just the beginning, but it was a moment they would cherish forever.
"Sunoo hyung," Niki said after their friends had dispersed.
"Yes, Riki?" Sunoo replied, turning to face him.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me this weekend," Niki asked shyly, his eyes darting nervously.
"I'd love to, Riki," Sunoo responded with a warm smile.
Niki's face lit up with relief and excitement. "Great! I'll text you the details."
Sunoo nodded, still smiling. "Looking forward to it."
As they walked out of the classroom, side by side, the anticipation of their upcoming movie outing added a new layer of excitement to their recent success.
