to be honest, i think i'll discontiue this book because i've been getting spammed across ALL the platforms i post this book on saying that my usage of the word(s) "brown" (an ambiguous term because it comes in MANY SHADES btw) and 2 mini-mentions of a different hair type(s) outside of the 'pin straight' out of 87,000+ words is upsetting to many and is told would discourage future readers or even that i should put several more disclaimers as a warning... and while their concerns about content warnings are understandable, it seems to stem from a place of personal preference rather than an objective issue with my writing.
and to be frank, i don't write/post for views/readers, i write for myself because, so if my writing isn't something you think you can read/digest, that's completely okay, but please don't think you can just order me to change. and even though i know i can just ignore/delete these individuals, it's tiring having to see constant messages talking about it...
and the kicker of this entire thing is i didn't even intend for this to be a POC book, but it's nice to know that even just mentioning something outside of "pale, rosey" is noninclusive and means that i must state that this is a POC book, but even then, it's not... and if i honestly wanted it to be one, i'd done A LOT more to showcase the reality of what a POC!Reader would face (things like having the characters be "shocked" or questioning about the reader's skin/hair/ethnicity or even having to deal with uncomfortable situations that pertain just because of the racial difference).
i dunno, maybe i'll come back later if i'm up to it, but as of now, it's a scrap but if i do, i want you guys to remember, people have brown skin of varying shades, so if this bothers you, i want you guys to treat it like you treat the old Y/N works (fashion of noninlcusive things like 'pale face' 'red blushing cheeks'), ignore it/imagine something else—that's what I did before I began writing my own things....
not to fret, this doesn't mean i'm done with writing (tbh i have like 30+ fics swarming around in my head) just the closing of this book's chapter. once again, thank you everyone for supporting and reading so far❤️
